Navy Interest: Patent gimble compass by E Dent & Co., London, inscribed to the centre 'Captain Chetwynd's Patent' no. 25965/06, inscribed to the outer 'E Dent & Co., London, no. 51113', contained in a wood and bronze-mounted ship's binnacle stand, stamped no. 22 and 32 to the lower mount, with painted spherical compensator to each side, the left compensator bearing old damage that reportedly happened whilst in battle, compass 20cm diameter, overall 157cm high.
