A pair of Japanese patinated bronze vases with silvered and gilt dragon decoration,14 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Both vases with various scratches and scuffs throughout. Both vases with various small shallow dents. Some pitted type marks. One vase has possible restoration around the dragon ornamentation as a black permanent marker pen, appears to have traced this decoration. Daylight showing through some small holes in the vase and there appears to be one split by the clods to the right hand side of the dragon. Some deeper scratches throughout. The other vase also appears to have small holes in the vase. Both vases showing various general signs of wear and tear and possible restoration. Probably 20th Century
AFTER ALBERT ERNEST CARRIER-BELLEUSE (1824-1887) "Liseuse", study of a lady in medieval dress reading, silvered and gilt bronze study with ivory face and hands, signed within the casting, inscribed on plaque to the socle base "Liseuse par Cariier-Belleuse GDPX du Salon" and around the base "Presented to Miss H J Jelks on the occasion of her 21st birthday June 19th 1928 - by the staff of W Jelks *& Sons Holloway Finchley & Southend", 40 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Silkvered areas with much discolouration/wear throughout - see images. Ivory with cracking and discoouration in several areas but basically all appear sound with no seriosu damage or repairs - see images for further details
AFTER GEORGES OMERTH (1895-1925) "Reclining Nude, a cloth draped over her legs, resting upon rocks", ivory and gilt bronze study, raised on a green onyx base, signed within the casting and no'd 3051 verso (the rocks with recess, possibly as a pipe stand), 23.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Upper arm with break to the ivory in line with the top of the head. Lower arm with joined area, ivory with discolouration throughout - some purely surface, other scratched in. Gilt bronzework basically sound though with some discolouration and wear conducive with age. Onyx basically sound, base with some wear conducive with age. All over is scratched. Some impact type marks to the top. Various general signs of wear and tear. The body appears to have some white paint added to the trunk of the tree.
