A 1972 Lotus Elan Plus 2S/130, registration number YOD 103K, chassis number 72060757L, engine number P26914, bronze/silver. Introduced by Lotus in 1967 the Plus 2 was a move by Colin Chapman to elevate the Elan to a higher level. The new car featured a longer wheelbase chassis and true 2+2 seating. In period the car was advertised: 'For the discerning motorist who requires renowed Lotus handling and performance coupled to an attractive 2+2 body'. This is achieved in spades with the new body being very elegant and in some peoples eyes more attractive than the original Elan. This two owner Plus 2 comes direct from a deceased estate. In the current ownership since June 1987. The Elan was originally registered UUO 888 left the factory painted bright red. The original owner had the colour changed to its current bronze and silver because he felt that the original colour was too noticeable on the open road. Since being acquired by the second (deceased) owner a chartered engineer, a programme of refurbishment was carried out rebuilding the car around a new Spyder chassis. We are advised that all mechanical components were replaced or refurbished to a high standard. The engine was rebuilt using components supplied by Paul Matty Sports Cars and Quorn Engineering Developments. The starter motor was replaced with a high torque example, uprated drive shafts were fitted, Luminitition electronic ignition was installed and the seats have been re-upholstered in black leather. Since this work was carried out the Lotus has covered approximately 1,500 miles. The Elan would benefit from a respray to bring the coachwork up to the standard of the rest of the car. YOD 103K passed its last MOT on 22nd September 2017 without any advisories, but due to little use and being in dry storage since it is advised that the car will require light recommissioning and checking over before taking to the road. The Elan will be offered for auction with service history, receipts, photographs and numerous spare parts. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
