Art Deco Silvoz Paris mantel clock with circular dial, Arabic numerals, surmounted by two bronzed spelter deer, on a rectangular marble base, 22cm high x 54.5cm wide approx. Condition ReportClock not currently working. Scratches to the clock face; glass cover is loose but present. Deer both have a slight wobble, but are generally firm. Metal of clock face a little worn, and the same for the edge of the glass. Bronze of the deer a little worn; general wear and tear as to be expected otherwise.

A BRONZE MODEL OF A CARP BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN PRESENTED TO THE ROYAL NAVAL CLUB BY OFFICERS OF THE I.J.N. ASAHI TO COMMEMORATE HER LAUNCH, CIRCA 1900realistically modelled with scales, the front fins acting as support, with ebonised gilt eyes -- 15in. (38cm.) longRoyal Naval Club & Royal Albert Yacht Club, Portsmouth Built by John Brown at Clydebank, Asahi was a 15,200-ton battleship for the Imperial Japanese Navy and completed in 1900. She saw action throughout the Russo-Japanese War and was badly damaged by a floating mine in 1904. Repaired in time for the Battle of Tsushima where she sustained several hits and casualties. By World War One she was, as a pre-Dreadnought, already obsolete and used as a gunnery training platform. Disarmed under the terms of the 1923 Treaty of Washington, in 1926 she was converted to a submarine rescue ship and placed in reserve. In 1938 she was reactivated as a repair ship but was sunk by the U.S.Submarine Salmon on 25th May 1942 off Cape Paderas.

A WHEEL HUB RECOVERED FROM THE IRON CLIPPER SMYRNA, 1876, WRECKED OFF THE ISLE OF WIGHT 1888cast in bronze with inset lettering reading WALTER HOOD & Co. SHIPBUILDERS ABERDEEN / SMYRNA / 1876 -- 18in. (46cm.) diameterThe iron clipper Smyrna was built by Walter Hood & Co -- the famous Aberdeen yard which had built Thermoplae a few years before -- for the Aberdeen White Star Line in 1876. Registerd at 1.372 tons with dimensions of 232.2 x 38.5 x 22.2 ft. she plied successful route carrying wool between London and Australia for several years including a crossing of just 96 days in 1887. The 28th April 1888 saw her off the Needles en route to Sydney when she collided with the S.S. Moto. The Captain and twelve crew drowned, the remaining seventeen were rescued by the steamship and landed at Southampton. verdigris overall, structurally fine condition.
