Franz von Stuck (1863 Tettenweis - 1928 Tetschen)'Monna Vanna', Modell 1920, Bronze, patiniert und partiell feuervergoldet, Höhe 54 cm, auf dem Sockel vorderseitig signiert und betitelt, Gießerstempel C. Leyrer München, unterseitig innen Aufkleber der Biennale von Venedig 1926 und ital. Steuermarke. Franz von Stuck ist dem breiten Publikum vor allem als Künstler des Jugendstils und des Schöpfers höchst exzessiv-lasziver Bilder bekannt. Zu den spannendsten Kapiteln des Oeuvres von Franz von Stuck gehört jedoch sicherlich die Bildhauerei. Seit einem Rom-Aufenthalt bei seinem Kollegen Max Klinger 1890 vermuten Stucks frühe Zeitgenossen in der "Form" sein eigentliches Metier und seine größte Begabung. Auf dynamische und kraftvolle Frühplastiken im klassizistischen Stil folgen statische Frauenfiguren. Die vorliegende Bronze "Monna Vanna" lehnt sich an die titelgebende Frauenrolle eines Theaterstücks aus dem Jahre 1902 an. Die Hauptrolle des Stücks spielt eine Frau, die zwischen zwei Männern steht, zwischen Liebe, Täuschung und Wahnsinn. Die Figur der "Monna Vanna" zeigt hierbei die Fortentwicklung zweier beliebter Frauenfiguren des 19. Jh. - femme fragile und femme fatale. Von Stuck greift die Entwicklung in seiner Plastik auf und verbindet beide Typen. In ihrer gestreckten Form und ihrer Schönheit sicherlich ein Werk des Jugendstils, ist diese Figur durch ihre Strenge und geradlinige Komposition jedoch fern jeder jugendstilhaften Süßlichkeit, sondern besticht durch ihre Kraft und Sinnlichkeit.
