A Chinese bronze ritual wine pouring vessel (guang) of a well known but still rare type, such vessels were piece mould cast and characteristically densely decorated with Taotie emblems, and stylised animals, the cover is always, as in this example, Zoomorphic, with prominent eyes, nose and flat ended horns, the present Guang bears long tiger motifs cast to the sides of the cover, the base has an 'exploded' Taotie as the main motif, all against a leiwen ground, in the style of late Shang/early Western Zhou but Qing dynasty, length 28cm (illustrated)
