A collection of objects of vertu, including: an onyx, bronze and enamelled holy water stoop, late 19th century, centred by a painted porcelain plaque, 17cm (6 3/4in) high; a rectangular papier mache box cover, painted with a portrait entitled Lady Esther Stanhope; a French gilt metal mounted bonbonniere, modelled as Cupid reclining and cuddling a lamb, his quiver strap inscribed 'Pensez A Moi', the hinged lid painted with flowers, late 19th century, 5 cm (2in) long; a Russian enamel of the Mother of God, coloured enamels, 9cm x 7.5cm (3 1/2in x 3in); two enamel boxes; a dog's head whistle; and other items Lady Hester Lucy Stanhope (1776-1839) was a socialite, adventurer and traveller.
A Chinese bronze censor, diameter 12.5 cm, together with a vase and plaque. CONDITION REPORT: One leg has been repaired and there are remnants of lead solder around it. The interior of the censor is very pitted and rusty. It is decorated with incised Feng and peony. The brass dish is very rubbed to the centre erasing most of the decoration. There are no obvious splits or cracks. The vase is decorated with a dragon, a Feng, auspicious objects and has two lion mask handles. It is of no significant age. It has a pseudo Xuande mark which has been polished and rubbed. There are no cracks, chips, dents or major obvious faults visible.
