A fine gilt bronze and amboyna centre table, after a model by Jacob, Paris, circa 1880, with a circular green marble top surrounded by an ormolu border cast with palmettes, raised on four scrolled rectilinear ormolu supports surmounted by patinated bronze sirens, ending in claw feet, riased on a concave-sided rectangular base centred by a green marble urnh. 79cm.; diam. 95cm.The present centre table is based on a model inspired by Jacob and produced by several parisian makers, including Franois Linke (1855-1946).

A fine gilt-bronze and Boulle marquetry commode after Andre Charles Boulle, Paris, circa 1880, with a later marble top, above two drawers h.87cm.; w.123cm.; d.64cm.This commode is a copy of one of the pair of commodes made in 1708 by Andra Charles Boulle for the king's bed-chamber at the Palais de Trianon, now the Grand Trianon. Boulle perfected the Dutch technique of marquetry, not only using selected woods but incorporating more expensive and exotic materials such as tortoiseshell, brass, copper and pewter, a technique universally known today as 'Boulle'.It is unusual to find models of this commode of such fine quality and it is strange that the present example is unsigned. The model was made by several leading 19th century makers. A very fine pair of commodes supplied by Blake of London were sold in Sothebys London, lot 231, 2nd November 1990 and another pair by Winkelsen of Paris was sold Sothebys, London, 16th March lot 159. A fine gilt-bronze clock garniture by Houbedine, Paris, dated 1870, comprising a mantel clock and a pair of candelabra, signed Hi Houbedine, Bronzier, Paris 1870 (3)Clock, 80cm.; Candelabra 89cm.Houbedine was one of the leading Parisian bronziers, who specialised in clock garnitures. He exhibited at the international exhibitions of 1855, 1867 and 1889. W

A Medieval bronze seal matrix of vesica form, with flange handle, pierced for suspension, inscribed in black letter, sigillum-scti-john beblan-officii-procurator (seal of the office of the holy John Beblan, procurator), depicting an Archbishop carrying a primatial cross on a ground of wheatsheaves, 15th century, 2 5/8in long, 1 3/4in wide.
Three Generations of Naval Service 1832 - 1945: Lieut. Charles Sydney Dunbar, R.N. entered the navy in 1832, serving aboard the Lizaard steam-vessel, and in the Rodney and Fox largely on the Mediterranean station. Medals: The Baltic medal inscribed H.M.S. Amphion; Italian War of Independence silver medal with 1860-61 bar. His son: Paymaster Rear-Admiral Charles Augustus Royer Flood Dunbar, R.N. C.B.E. (1849-1939) joined the navy in 1866. He served in the turret-ship Devastation in the Mediterranean, the Magicienne, the Caledonia and other vessels. Medals: C.B.E. (Military Division) miniature; China War Medal 1900 inscribed H.M.S. Barfleur; British War Medal. His only son: Captain Ronald Ernest Cotton Dunbar, R.N. (1898-1981) served in WW1, being mentioned in despatches five times. Medals: Bronze Star 1914-15; War Medal; Victory Medal with oak leaf; 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star with France and Germany Bar; Italy Star; Defence Medal; Indian Service Medal with oak leaf; Croix de Guerre.
