As the US team won gold and Canada won silver, the team of the USSR automatically was first in the european Championships and received a gold medal. All three medals have got a drill hole that Viktor Yakushev personally made to wear these medals attached to his uniform, next to other medals. The participation medal hasn`t got a hole since it wasn`t such a valuable medal. Viktor Yakushev (1937-2001) belonged to the best icehockey players in the world. In 1960 he won bronze at the Olympic Games, in 1964 it was the gold medal. He was a four time world champion, too. This collection has never been on offer before!
