19th-early 20th century AD. A bronze figurine of a smiling Buddha in a loose robe reclining holding a pearl(?) in his left hand, gourd behind his left shoulder, string of coins passing from his left thigh over his shoulders and down his right sleeve. 144 grams, 63mm (2 1/2"). Property of a Warwickshire gentleman; formerly in the private collection of the famous actor Leslie Phillips; acquired 1950-1960. Born in 1924 in London, Leslie Phillips attended the Italia Conti Academy where he developed the slightly affected accent which became his trademark. He usually played a roguish, suave charmer, and also enjoyed successful comic roles in the early Carry On films and on radio’s The Navy Lark. He has appeared in more than fifty films, plays and TV series spanning six decades; and recently gained new fans through his appearances in the Harry Potter films. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours; promoted to Commander (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

A mixed group of bronze figural panels comprising: pair of liturgical book ornamental inlays, one from the upper right corner depicting St. John with an eagle and the other from the lower left corner depicting St. Mark with a lion; a pair of icon inlays, one from the upper left corner with the image of St. Matthew with an angel and one from the lower right corner depicting St. Luke with winged ox. 408 grams total, 8.5-17cm (3 1/2 - 6 3/4"). Property of a Suffolk lady. All four images are depicted according to the traditional belief that celestial creatures (the angel and eagle) are supposed to be in the upper part of decoration, while terrestrial creatures (the ox or bull and lion) belong to the lower part. A straight, narrow two-edged steel blade with bone hilt and guard, incised floral detailing; scabbard with bronze fittings, incised erotic scenes; suspension plate formed as a lion with open mouth, ring through the upper jaw. 1 kg, 67cm (26 1/2"). Ex Sutherland collection; acquired 1990s.[No Reserve] Fair condition, scabbard fittings damaged.

20th century AD. A bronze supine figure clutching its phallus, legs crossed, necklace and belt to the body. 42 grams, 68mm (2 3/4"). Ex Swiss collection; acquired 1980s. Known as Palad Khik, meaning honourable surrogate penis these amulets originated in India and are related to the Linga of the Hindu god Shiva. They are worn close to the body and are used to attract women, increase gambling luck and protection from dangerous objects such as bullets and knives. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
Later 5th-early 6th century AD. A small bronze cruciform bow brooch comprising: a square headplate with lateral panels and three collared knops, deep keeled bow with chamfered ends, narrow footplate with transverse ribbing, pin-lug and catchplate to the reverse. 7.15 grams, 50mm (2"). A group of two bronze fittings comprising: a strap mount with D-section loop, keeled shoulders, short shank with waisted knop finial; a convex domed discoid mount with lateral pierced lugs and central knop. 48 grams total, 45-59mm (1 3/4 - 2 1/4"). Found Wickham Bishops, Essex, UK, 1980s.Both items recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme with reference number ESS-1D1BC2 (loop) and ESS-2E4F76 (boss); accompanied by a print out of the PAS reports.[2, No Reserve] Fine condition.
An undated archaistic discoid bronze mirror with one tinned surface, the reverse with central pierced lug surrounded by a square band of text with four bosses and geometric designs within a starburst. 243 grams, 13.5 cm (5 1/4"). A mixed group of bronze items comprising: a Roman piriform strap end fragment with standing figure modelled in low relief; a 9th century Anglo-Saxon dragon-head mount with lug to the reverse; a dress pin with collar and domed head; an 11th century Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup mount of Williams's Class A Type 7 with two piercings at the lower edge and ledge to the reverse. 24 grams total, 26-43mm (1 - 1 3/4"). A mixed group of bronze items comprising: three Colchester-type bow brooches; a dolphin-type bow brooch; a Polden Hill-type bow brooch; a duck plate brooch with incised feather detail to the wings; an Alesia-type bow brooch with pierced lug to the footplate; a lion-head dagger pommel; a crescentic stud with scrolled finials; a dolphin-shaped mount. 72 grams total, 24-62mm (1 - 2 1/2"). A bronze D-section hoop inscribed to the inner face 'God is my way and my [life]'. 3.43 grams, 23mm overall, 18.46mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q, USA 8 1/4, Europe 18.0, Japan 17) (1"). 13th-14th century AD. A bronze staff or sceptre finial with hollow octagonal-section sleeve, open end, D-section ring and stepped pad; the sleeve with low collar and keyhole-shaped void to two opposed faces. 40 grams, 68mm (2 3/4"). A T-section heavy triangular Islamic blade with slightly curved cutting edge, long bolster, beaked hilt with ribbed horn rivetted grip scales and knop finial; short length of inscribed scroll detailing to blade below the hilt. 753 gram, 71cm (28"). A shin-gunto Type 98 katana with slightly curved single-edged blade, cast bronze openwork tsuba guard, bound hilt with spring catch and brass finial with round-section loop; the blade with dorsal fuller to each face, nine etched characters in two columns to one face and etched number to reverse; leather-covered wooden saya scabbard with single bronze suspension loop, reinforced leather chape, sheet brass frog. 840 grams, 101cm (39 3/4"). A shan dha military sword and scabbard; the T-section blade single-edged and gently curved, the gilt and ornamented bronze hilt round in section with aluminium long pommel and guard balustered, incised text to the guard; the wooden scabbard formed from two scales. 858 grams total, 86cm (33 3/4"). A mixed group of bronze chessman seal matrices comprising: one discoid with intaglio design of a hare on a baseline, legend to the border '*AVA SLOW[...]'; one elliptical with standing figure of Mary(?) indistinct legend to the border; one discoid with opposed male and female figures and flower between, legend to the border '*LOVE[...]'. 31 grams total, 24-29mm (1 - 1 1/4"). A mixed group comprising: the bow and foot of a small cruciform brooch; a hooked tag; an openwork bronze mount; an Urnes style strap end; an Anglo-Scandinavian harness mount; a stirrup mount of Class B with angled ledge; a mount fragment with facing bear-mask; a brooch pin with cranked finial; a square weight with three ring-and-dot motifs; a hollow beast-head finial; a beast-head strap end; four pin terminals, polyhedral and writhen types; three Anglo-Norman rectangular buckle plates with champ levé beasts; nine tongue-shaped strap ends with beast-head detailing; a Bronze Age(?) penannular ring. 201 grams total, 13-82mm (1/2 - 3 1/4"). A mixed group of belt or strap ends comprising: an openwork crescent with wreath detailing, lobe finial with radiating strokes; an openwork heart-shaped plaque with oak-leaf to the void, waisted plaque and socket with 'UB' in blackletter script; a gilt-bronze with rectangular socket, square panel below with rosette and flanking scrolls, balustered shank and free-running ring, enamel design to the socket with 'AR' Lombardic initials. 75 grams total, 41-76mm (1 3/4 - 3"). Olympic Winter Games 1948 Silver Winner medal - Silver medal for a second place at the Olympic Winter Games in St. Moritz 1948. „Vmes Jeux Olympiques d'hiver St.Moritz 1948". Silver, hallmarked (stamped 925, weight: 102 g), Made by Huguenin, 6 cm. There were only 47 bronze medals at the Olympic Games of 1948.
