WW1 2nd Bn Border Regiment 1915 Casualty Group of Medals. Awarded to “11036 PTE G. DANIELLS BORD R”. Comprising: 1914/15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, Bronze Memorial Plaque “GEORGE DANIELLS”. ... Memorial Scroll “Pte George Daniells Border Regt”. The group mounted into a glazed frame for display with a Regimental cap badge. Private George Daniells was born at East Clayton Buckinghamshire. He enlisted at Stonebridge Park Middlesex. He landed in France on the 19th January 1915. Whilst serving with the 2nd Bn he was Killed in Action on the 12th March 1915 at Neuve Chapelle.
WW1 1st Bn Rifle Brigade Emotive Casualty 1914 Star Group of Medals & Archive. This grouping remembers 5-9450 Acting Corporal James Samuel Smith, who was Killed in Action April 1917. Comprising: 1914 Star, “5-9450 PTE J SMITH 1/RIF BRIG”, British War Medal, Victory Medal, “ACT CRPL J.S. SMITH RIF BRIG”, Bronze Memorial Plaque (Complete with Card Cover & Buckingham Palace Slip) “JAMES SAMUEL SMITH”, Memorial Scroll (Complete with posting tube). .... Accompanied by: Selection of original letters sent by Cpl Smith at the front to his wife, including his last one dated 4th April 1917. ... small selection of photographs. .... Princes Mary 1914 Gift Tin... etc. Corporal James Samuel Smith was a pre war regular of the Rifle Brigade, having originally enlisted in 1908 and is shown as a native of Bermondsey. He completed his term of engagement in 1913 and at the outbreak of the war was recalled to the Regiment. He landed in France on the 20th September 1914 and was wounded to the right thigh in January 1915, being sent back to Blighty to recover, he returned to France on the 3rd August 1915 and was once again wounded in the following month with a gun shot wound to the right elbow. A second period in Blighty followed and then posted back to France in April 1916. He was Killed in Action on the 9th April 1917. The small number of letters sent by Cpl Smith include his period of convalescence, but his last letter home is dated 4th April 1917, five days before his death, to his wife it ends with a PS “God Bless you my darling”.

Comprising: 1914/15 Star, “1834 PTE G.W. SIMPSON GORD HIGHRS” (PLEASE NOTE Family Star), British War Medal, Victory Medal “3117 PTE A SIMPSON GORDONS”, Bronze Memorial Plaque “ALEXANDER SIMPSON” (With card cover & Buckingham Palace Letter” ... Memorial Scroll “Pte Alexander Simpson Gordon Highlanders”, Contemporary framed & glazed ... Commercial printed Memorial Scroll. The group is accompanied by a quantity of research. Private Alexander Henderson Simpson was a native of Aberdeen and landed in France on the 1st December 1915 and is therefore is confirmed as being awarded the star. His two Regimental numbers are confirmed. Whilst serving with the 8th/10th New Army Battalion was Killed in Action on the 21st September 1917. The 1914/15 Star in this group was awarded to Private George William Simpson who landed in France on the 19th February 1915. He is believed to be a family member.
WW1 1918 9th Bn Essex Regiment Casualty Group of Medals. Awarded to “20080 PTE G. BROWN ESSEX R”. Comprising: 1914/15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, “PTE ESSEX R.”, Bronze Memorial Plaque “GEORGE BROWN”. The plaque complete with Buckingham Palace letter and card cover. Private George Brown was a native of Netherton Maryport, he volunteered and served with the 1st BN Essex Regiment, landing at Gallipoli on the 19th September 1915. He later served on the Western Front and was Killed in Action on the 23rd August 1918, whilst serving with the 9th BN Essex Regiment.
WW1 7th (Leeds Rifles) West Yorkshire Regiment 1916 Officers Casualty Framed Group of Medals. Awarded to Captain Robert Salter who was Killed in Action leading his men forward on the 26th August 1916. Comprising: 1914/15 Star, “CAPT R SALTER W. YORK R”, British War Medal, Victory Medal, “CAPT”, Bronze Memorial Plaque “ROBERT SALTER”. The group remains mounted into a period bronze and glazed table top frame. Captain Robert Salter a native of Pudsey Leeds and a pre war Territorial Officer of the 1/7th Bn (Leeds Rifles) West Yorkshire Regiment landed in France with his Battalion on the 15th April 1915. A contemporary newspaper reported that on the 26th August 1916 “During the Battle of the Somme, Robert led his section of the 7th Battalion Leeds Rifles in a charge across no mans land from which he did not return”. He was buried at Lonsdale Cemetery Authuille near Thiepval.

A very rare example of the Polish combat Parachute Badge awarded to 2373316 Sergeant M.H.F.Ballamy Royal Signals who who volunteered to serve with the HQ Brigade of the 1 Samodzielna Brygada Spadochronowa (1st Independent Parachute Brigade) and is confirmed as participating in Operation Market Garden. Comprising: Polish Parachute qualification badge, with attached combat wreath. The badge made by “Tobie Ojgzyzno” and is numbered “4827”. The combat wreath is numbered “2000”. Retaining screw post the nut with details “Gr. Techn. London”. ... Medal group, 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, clasp “1st Army”, Italy Star, France & Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, General Service Medal clasp “Palestine 1945-48”, “2373316 SJT M.H.F. BALLAMY R.SIGS”. The WW2 Medals are mounted accompanied box of issue. The GSM remains in original box of issue with ink name to outside. ... Sergeant Ballamy’s medal group is accompanied by family medals comprising: British War Medal and Victory Medal in box of issue awarded to “F.22713 F.L. BALLAMY ACT AM1 RNAS”. ... Bronze Memorial Plaque “Harold William Ballamy”. ... Plus other miscellaneous items. 2373316 Sergeant M.H.F.Ballamy Royal Signals is confirmed on the Roll for the Parachute qualification badge and combat with both numbers matching. The roll gives his name with the spelling error “Bellany”. It also confirms he dropped with the Brigade into Arnhem and appears to have escaped during the withdraw. His address at the time of WW2 medal issue was Isleworth Middlesex. AM1 Frederick Lewis Ballamy joined the RNAS on the 27th October 1916 and saw service with 5 Squadron. Lieutenant Harold William Ballamy served with B Battery 231st Brigade Royal Field Artillery and died on the 15th August 1917 and was brother to F.L. Ballamy RNAS.
Badge. Scottish. 1st or the Royal Scots Regiment, Victorian Officer’s shako plate 1869-1878. A fine and rare example in die-struck bronze; pattern as for (KK 150), crowned laurels a scroll “Royal Regiment” below the crown, a central cypher “VR” over a floreated “1” sitting within the collar of the Order of the Thistle. The reverse with two loops and clip provision for a backing to the centre (not present). VGC
Peter Tereszczuk - an Art Nouveau brown patinated cast bronze dish, decorated in relief with a profile portrait of a young shepherdess, the side bearing cast signature, length approx 27cm, together with an Austrian Art Nouveau cast bronze vase, height approx 12cm, and a pair of early 20th Century pewter plaques, decorated with seated maidens, indistinctly signed.
A large late 19th Century French boulle work and gilt bronze mounted centre table, the rectangular top decorated with overall foliate scrolls within a cast cartouche and leaf border, the square tapering legs united by a shaped scrolling stretcher, terminating in acanthus leaf mounted feet, height approx 80cm, length approx 230cm, depth approx 109cm (overall extensive restoration).
A late 19th Century American brown patinated and gilt cast bronze urn and cover by 'E.F. Caldwell & Co. Inc., New York', the circular lid and ovoid body decorated in relief with bands of classical figures, raised on three ball feet, bearing inscribed maker's mark to underside, height approx 19.5cm.
