Lebzeitguss als einmaliger Archivguss ausgeführt von Bildgießerei Richard Barth, Berlin, vor 1971, außerhalb der ursprünglich vorgesehenen (aber höchstwahrscheinlich nicht realisierten) Auflage von 8 Exemplaren. Bekannt sind außer diesem bei Rudloff aufgeführten Guss lediglich zwei weitere Exemplare, darunter eines im Gerhard-Marcks-Haus in Bremen. Dargestellt ist ein auf einer quaderförmigen Bank bzw. einem Block sitzender, kraftvoller Jüngling als Aktfigur in sinnierender Pose mit erhobenem Kopf und zwischen den gespreizten Beinen gekreuzten Händen. Die Plastik geht auf zu Beginn der 1940er Jahre entstandene Modellstudien mit unterschiedlichen, sitzenden Jünglingen zurück, die er schließlich in seiner bekannten Figur "Sitzender Prometheus II" von 1948 realisierte. Marcks, der 1919 - 1924 am Bauhaus und danach bis 1933 an der Kunstschule Burg Giebichenstein in Halle/S. wirkte, gehört zu den bedeutendsten figürlich arbeitenden deutschen Bildhauern der Moderne. Diese kontemplative Plastik ist stilistisch und in der Intention repräsentativ für das Oeuvre von Marcks. Seine stehenden, liegenden oder sitzenden, auf das Wesentliche in Form und Ausdruck komprimierten Aktfiguren zeigen den Menschen in seinen natürlichen Bewegungen und Haltungen; nie wirken seine stilisierten Figuren heroisch oder pathetisch, sie spiegeln stattdessen in überzeitlicher Weise allgemeine menschliche Grundstimmungen, zuweilen auch eine gewisse Verhaltenheit wider.
