Lot 340

A bronze Monk, probably late Ming Dynasty, standing in robes, his hands in prayer, on a lotus gadrooned base, a ribbon tied at his shoulder, the cranium replaced in lead, 25.5cm This figure, which was heavily cast inverted, probably developed a fault at the bottom of the mould. Rather than throw the entire piece back in the pot, they chose to fill the hole in his head with lead and patinate it. CONDITION REPORT: A hole to the lower part of robe. Knocks and dents throughout. Solder repair to head.

A pair of bronze Gu, c.1900, in Shang style, each typically decorated with cast archaic panels, 22cm (2) CONDITION REPORT: Both foot rims misshapen, otherwise no obvious faults.

A bronze Censer, second half of the 17th century, thinly cast and with two lion mask handles with finely chased manes, six character Xuande mark, dents, 14.5cm, pierced wood cover with detached coral knop (2) CONDITION REPORT: Knop has been reglued. Crack running through lid. Base, small indentation, otherwise no obvious faults. Weight of censer without cover: 387g approximately. 6.2cm high. 10.5cm inner rim. 11.5cm outer rim.

Two bronze Ding Censers, probably c.1600, of square section and lozenge form, the shoulders with key- fret bands, cast mark zizisunsun yongbao (to be treasured eternally by innumerable descendants), the other with ring handles, 5 and 5.2cm CONDITION REPORT: No obvious faults.

Lot 347

A bronze Jue, dated Qianlong 3 (1739) the body typically cast after a Shang original with three blade legs and bands of diaper, the inscription under the spout including the date, original casting flaws, 16.5cm CONDITION REPORT: Small hole to side of handle. There appears to be a contemporary repair to rear of rim.

An unusual bronze Jar, possibly early 18th century, engraved and partly silver filled with a confronting dragon or a feng in a barbed panel amongst precious objects and diaper, cast mark including swastika, 13.8cm CONDITION REPORT: This has previously been silver inlaid of which now 98% of it is missing. No obvious faults.
