A Unique English Coronet Midget camera cane. The cane consists of a wooden shaft with a bronze case at the top and a sharp bronze end at the bottom. The upper part ends with a handle. On the cane is a bronze plaque with the inscription "Brigg Sticrs London", Inside the cane is a camera with a tripod. The brown bakelite Camera is 3 1/3" high and 1 1/4" deep. Just below the viewing window on one side, there a tin plate that says: " Coronet Midget", 26mm Film", " Made by the Coronet Camera Co., Birmingham", "British Patents Applied For" and "Design registered". On other sides there is a wheel for advancing film, a lever that clicks to take pictures, a window that can advise how many exposures remain, and a hinged door for loading film. All camera mechanics appear to be in working order. General condition is very good. It is ca 1930s, and it is a unique example. The Coronet Midget, first made in 1935 by the Coronet company in England, took advantage of the way Bakelite could be moulded into weird shapes and coloured in ways that were new to the camera world. It took 16mm rollffilm, complete with numbers that could be read through a red window on the back. Midgets were styled in an unusual upright design and sold in five basic colours – black, brown, red, green and blue. But there were two shades of green; and some had plain bodies while others were mottled; and there were variants in the shape of film winding knob. The dedicated collector makes sure to collect all five colours. The really dedicated collectors goes for all the variants as well.
