early 19th century, of large proportions, the 3 1/2" silvered dial on a brass eight day movement stamped Guyerdet, Paris, striking half hourly to a bell, serial number 1896, the case with a bronze surmount depicting a child wrestling with gilt serpents on a naturalistic rocky ground, on a gilt mounted Siena marble plinth raised on bronze paw feet, with pendulum, height 72cm, width 52cm. ** Movement loose in case, needs tightening, appears to wind and strike but is not striking the correct hours so likely needs a service, the case with minor chips and nibbles, significant repair to both reverse corners, other scratches and general wear but presents well, no key.
