A late Victorian gilt bronze ebonised and walnut inlaid side cabinet, the brass three-quarter gallery over a central cupboard inset with a porcelain plaque depicting a young man playing a violin to a girl, flanked with glazed and mirror cupboards over two drawers, a mirrored back with an inverted shelf and plinth, raised on bun feet, 107.5cm wide 57cm deep 136cm high CONDITION REPORT: Wear to tops, finish polished to the ornate work, loss to top of door, scuffing to the edges, crack to undertier, veneer loss to areas of burr walnut. A Victorian ebonised pier cabinet, with ornate gilt bronze mounts and a single door inset with hardstones with an urn of fruiting foliage, on a black marble ground, 96cm wide 44cm deep 119cm high CONDITION REPORT: Top scratched, marked and cracked. Door ebonising is discoloured. Some Hardstone inlay detached but present. Hardstone flowers have missing leaves, stalks and flowerheads. Several stalks and fruit detached. Much flat brass stringing to one side of the door sprung and some missing. Stringing missing to the base and sides. Discolouration to gilded finish. Chips to ebonising. We suggest a thorough close inspection.
A Large & Rare Flemish Bronze Mortar by Peeter Van Den Ghein, Malines, 1612. The flared rim inscribed 'Peeter Van Den Ghein Heft my Chegoten int laer MDCXII above a double band of chimaeras and scrolling tendrils of flowers, 13 ins (33 cms) high, 17½ ins (44.5 cms) in diameter, mounted on an early rustic block 15 ins (38 cms) high.
