WW2 American, Korean War & Vietnam Medal and Document Grouping Awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Alice A Long W.A.C, group consists of cased Legion of Merit, Legion of Merit with bronze cluster, US Bronze Star, Joint Services Commendation medal, National Defence Service medal, WW2 American Campaign Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Accompanying the group is a folder of original documents including the citations for the Legion of Merits and Bronze star. Various photographs of Lt Col Long from WW2 up to the 1970’s. Selection of presentation plaques mainly relating to her service during the Korean war. She was a member of S.H.A.P.E and her ID card and dog tags are amongst the paperwork. Good complete grouping to a high ranking female in the American armed forces.

Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, awarded to “WILLIAM ROONEY”. Medal is complete with the original card outer case. Multiple casualties are listed for William Rooney including a 26th August 1914 casualty of the Lancashire Fusiliers, 31st October 1914 casualty of the Royal Warwickshire regiment, plus others.

Great War 1914-15 Star Trio and Memorial Plaque Lancashire Fusiliers, medals were awarded to “4027 PTE J STREET LAN FUS”. Bronze memorial plaque with paper envelope named “JOSEPH STREET”. Complete with original ribbons. Private Joseph Street was a native of Oldham, was killed in action on 15th February 1916 whilst serving with the 10th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers. A newspaper article that appeared in the Manchester Evening News on March 9th 1916 states that he was a Labourer at Messrs Platts Old Works. The war diary from this period indicates that a trench raid counter attack took place on the morning of 15th February 1916 and it was in this action that private Street was killed. He is remembered with honour at the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial.

Officers quality lining to the interior which shows service wear; Royal Army Ordnance Corps dress side / field service cap of blue cloth body and red top section, gilt and enamel small type cap badge, bullion wire piped edges and brass regimental buttons to the front. Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, named to “STANLEY EAGLIS”. Remains in good condition. CWGC does not list any casualty under the name Stanley Eaglis, however the vendor of this lot was a Lancashire Fusiliers collector and CWGC lists one Stanley Eagles as a casualty on 28th September 1916 serving with the 11th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, interesting research project, possible spelling error on the plaque.

Attributed to Arthur Dooley (1929-94), a polished and patinated bronze and steel sculpture: Centurion, the elongated warrior with cloak, shield and spear, on a rectangular base, circa 1970-80, 69 cm high.*Biography Originally employed as a dockyard welder, Dooley enlisted into the Irish Guards in 1945, deserting to join the Palestine Liberation Army and an inevitable period of detention on his recapture. Working as a cleaner in Saint Martins School of Art, London he eventually became a student there in 1953. He returned to Liverpool to become a sculptor and to make ends meet, he was employed by the police. His preferred medium was scrap metal.
