An exceptional double-barrelled percussion gun by Veyron Fils Cadet dating: second quarter of the 19th Century provenance: France Smooth, round, 15 mm cal. barrel of fine damask, with rib featuring the golden mark "CANON DAMAS TURC" between floral motifs, on the sides bas-relieved foliage, foresight with rays and arrow in gold. The breeches decorated with curls on finished ground, engraved tang with finishing. Forward spring locks signed "VEYRON FILS CADET" and "A St. ETIENE" in gold, the front part of the plate decorated with the fine, chiselled effigy of hound, on a side, and a fawn on the other side, the rear part with polished finishing featuring elegant, floral engravings; the hammers en suite, worked as lion heads. Half stock of fine briarwood, the neck checkered with flowers framed by lozenges, under the butt the carved effigy of a bearded man with laurel crown and feathers, a rosette on the cheek-piece. Iron mounts; the trigger guard with finishing and the engraved effigy of a bas-relieved deer at the centre, the butt-plate with finishing and floral engravings; the mouth-piece shaped as a lion head, damask barrel brackets. Bronze-tipped wooden ramrod with iron and brass cartridge extractor. Per Veyron Fils Cadet see "Der Neue Stöckel", Vol. II, page 1327. dimensions: length 124 cm.
