Roman Bronze Die. Circa 200-1450 AD. Copper-alloy, 9.00g. 11mm. Geoff Egan (1997) notes that the "regular" layout is most common amongst medieval and later dice though this is in contrast with MacGregor (1985) who suggests that non-regular dice were most common from AD 1200-1500. Similar dice presenting a ring and dot decoration are illustrated in Crummy (1983, 96-97) which are dated to the Roman period and in Egan (1998, 290-291 nos. 953 and 954) which are dated to c.AD 1350-1450. Therefore only a broad date range can be suggested.

Medieval Signet Ring. Circa 14th century AD. Copper-alloy, 8.64g. 25.42mm. A gilt bronze ring formed of a heavy wide shank and a flat bezel. The shank is decorated on the outside with a band of foliate motifs between two narrow bands. The bezel is engraved and forms the seal face which displays a seated beast with its head raised and jaws open, around is a black letter script.
