(4) Chinese Decorative items including two pairs of bronze identification devices or tallies formed as fitted halves of recumbent tigers inlaid in inscriptions along the sides of the spine, in fitted storage box; and two molded ink cakes, one of white and one of red hues, each adorned in gilt figural motifs reversed by lengthy inscriptions, the white example bearing the attribution Hu Kaiwen molded in raised standard script along the side (Approx. 3 3/4" & 4" long).
FLEMING ALEXANDER: (1881-1955) Scottish Biologist, Nobel Prize winner for Physiology or Medicine, 1945. T.L.S., A Fleming, one page, 8vo, Paddington, 15th January 1948, to Dr. I. G. Cobb, on the printed stationery of The Wright-Fleming Institute of Microbiology at St. Mary's Hospital. Fleming informs his correspondent 'I am sending you the manuscript of the article on chemotherapy for your "Aspects of Modern Science"' and remarks that he hopes it is what he wanted. Matted in green above an ink signature of Barbara Gammon (1922-2013, Fleming's last Ward Sister at St. Mary's Hospital) on a small 12mo card with a brief printed caption affixed below, and alongside a selection of images of or relating to Fleming and a bronze medallion featuring his image issued by the Royal Mint in a limited edition of 500. Framed and glazed in a wooden frame to an overall size of 13 x 15.5. VG
A City of London WARD BOUNDARY SIGN 'The Ward of Bread Street'. An oval enamel sign in its original bronze and steel frame, measuring 20" x 13" (51cm x 33cm) at its maximum dimensions. Bread Street is one of 25 wards in the City of London amd was home to the City's bread market in the Middle Ages. Estimated to date from the 1970s/80s. In very good condition. [1]
1940s/50s London Transport BUS STOP FLAG (compulsory version) of the flat, framed style (2 enamel plates in a bronze frame). This is a rarely seen E3 version with runners for 3 e-plates on each side. Numbered 7310 underneath (a low number) and with a well-polished bronze frame, this is a superb example with no more than very minor blemishes and a faint trace on both sides of the 'fare stage' stickers once affixed.
