The bronze door handle collars, wonderfully adorned with embossed circular Thuluth calligraphy typical of the period. The inscription begins with “The sultan, the king of the Muslims”. Circa 1100 AD Bronze ewer with flaring mouth, upward-angled spout, piriform body, pronounced foot and strap handle connecting at the lower part of the body and at the rim. Bands of elaborate incised decoration in the form of geometric motifs are concentrated around the upper part of the body and around the body. This form of jug is typically known as a ewer and would have been used for serving water during banquets or for bathing. The Seljuks were a Turkic dynasty who swept out of Central Asia in the early 10th century and conquered an enormous expanse, covering most or all of present-day Turkmenistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey and beyond. After inflicting crushing military defeats on a host of rivals, the most famous of which was perhaps that against the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, the Seljuk sultans became major patrons of art and architecture. Circa 1100 ADA bronze mortar and pestle with fine patination finish. The mortar is in the form of a bulbous shape tube and stepped-in foot. The conical shaped body is decorated with two bands of almond shaped bosses, which are stagger at different heights. The pestle is formed with a knobbed handle, a long cylindrical shaft with a rounded linear base. This object was most likely a utilitarian object used in the kitchen for preparation of food or possibly by a physician, skilfully mixing medicines and preparing substances for the healing of the ill. Circa 900-700 BC, Neo-ElamiteA fine bronze basin or phiale, a special libation bowl used for holding wine, with a rounded body, the corseted shoulder flares outward to form the rim, and the slanted lip enables the easy sipping of the contents. The exterior of the bowl is polished; the inside with a rosette finelly modelled, just below the rim an inscription in cuneiform. Circa 900-800 BC, Neo-ElamiteA Neo-Elamite bronze bowl with large conical body; the rim, details a ridged band. The exterior is highly decorated with incised zomorphic details of men and winged bulls in the motion of running; the bulls hang over one another, creating a motion of a movement. In the centre of the bowl appears to be a figure of a winged sphinx and fish. The bottom of the bowl is decorated with linear lines creating the effect of a lotus. Circa 900-800 BC, Neo-ElamiteThe beaker is slender and cylindrical in shape with gently tapering concave sides and a tapering base that terminates in a "nipple". A central knob on the bottom surrounded by twelve petals of a rosette. The goose is standing on its stylised, well-defined bronze legs which support a globular body and elegantly slender neck terminating in a white-coloured head with a red beak and open, attentive eyes. The body is decorated with white and black glaze, imitating the animal's natural plumage.Geese were a major motif in Han dynasty era poetry and were typically distinguished between two types of geese, the domestic goose, and the wild goose.The Han Dynasty, which ruled between 202 BC-220 AD, brought great prosperity and stability to China, reigning over a golden age of classical Chinese civilization during which China saw major advances including the widespread development of a monetary economy and the invention of paper, as well as much progress in the decorative arts.To find out more about the Han Dynasty and its art production, see:Milleker, Elizabeth J. Late Shang-Early Western Zhou dynasty, 11th-10th century BCA mysterious and powerful ritual wine vessel with lid, referred to as a ‘you’. The vessel is pear-shaped, of oval section, it is raised upon a foot with expands from the body to the bottom, each side with a banding of kui dragon symbols of good fortune and royalty, centred by zoomorphic taotie mask cast in high relief and leiwen in between. The cover is cast with two centred taotie masks and a continuation of kui dragon scrolls. The handle twisted in form, can move from left to right offering flexibility, which terminates at each end with a stylised zoomorphic tapir-head terminals, The powerful ‘you’ vessel is a type of wine vessel made for the royal family or members of high ruling important members of society. These were placed in the tombs of deceased, and were used for ritual rites, normally placed on an altar. The Chinese descendants we provided elaborate rights to their ancestors, for them to be protected against evil. Circa 300 BCA pottery vessel with a globular body and tapering neck, everted rim and strap handle to the rear, the body with circumferential bands of red or brown pigment.The Daunian culture were an Italic tribe inhabiting Northern Apulia in Classical antiquity before the Greek expansion in southern Italy. Starting in the Late Bronze Age (1000 BC), a local ceramic production was developed in the region, characterized by a light-coloured purified clay and decoration with simple geometric patterns. SCHMIDT-KESTNER Erich (1877 Berlin - 1941 Nordhausen) "Der Abschiedskuss" ein auf einem Pferd sitzender, heroisch-nackter Krieger, ein Schild auf seinem Rücken tragend, beugt sich nach unten und küsst eine Frau zum Abschied, auf ovaler naturalistischer Plinthe, Bronze dunkel patiniert, auf der Plinthe signiert, seitlich mit Gießereistempel "Akt.-Ges. v. H. Gladenbeck & Sohn" versehen, rechteckiger, grün-schwarz geäderter Marmorsockel, H 37,5cm (Bronze), 41x21x2,5cm (Plinthe), Speer des Kriegers fehlt *Schmidt-Kestner studierte an den Kunstakademien in Berlin und Düsseldorf. Er wurde mehrfach mit Goldmedaillen und Preisen geehrt, u.a. mit dem Rompreis (1905). Der "Abschiedskuss wird als eines der Hauptwerke Schmidt-Kestners angesehen.*

Im Anschluss studierte er an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg bei Prof. Hans Wimmer und später an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin bei Prof. Bernhard Heiliger, dessen Meisterschüler er wurde. Er übernahm einen Lehrauftrag für "Plastisches Gestalten" an der Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd. Seit 1970 ist er als freischaffender Bildhauer in Strümpfelbach tätig.*
