A French turquoise glazed bronze mounted chinoiserie vase with relief design, probably Theodore Deck, 19th C.H 71,5 cm (incl. the mounts) Joseph-Theodore Deck (2 January 1823 - 15 May 1891) was a 19th C. French potter. Born in Guebwiller, Haut-Rhin, he began learning the trade in his early 20's, moving to Paris at the age of 24. In 1856 he established his own faience (earthenware) workshop, Joseph-Theodore Deck Ceramique Francaise, and began to experiment with styles from Islamic pottery, and in particular the Iznik style. He worked with Charles Ficquenet for Sevres.
Pierre-Jules Mene (1810-1879, after): 'Valet de chasse Louis XV et sa harde', patinated bronze on a black marble base, 20th C.H 70 - L 73 - D 47 cm (incl. the stand) The original sculpture was commissioned by Napoleon III in 1869. The model was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1870 (later in the Musee du Louvre), at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1873 and at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. A later cast.
