An important Victorian family medal group and later medal group to Col. E.T. Rich, Royal Engineers and his father Capt. J.F. Rich R.F.A.; together with a related death plaque the medals as listed form only a part of the interest and value with there being several excellent photograph albums, reports etc. in relation to Col. E.T. Rich`s work in India and Afghanistan. The medals are:- QSA (Lieut.) Orange Free State and Cape Colony clasps, KSA and two clasps to Capt. John Easton Rich R.F.A. died at Poona, India 1907 aged 28. The Pollock Medal (Gold) awarded and gazetted 1893, Knights Commander (KCIE) of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire (1901 on), India Medal (CAPN) North West Frontier 1908 Clasp, 1914-15 Star Trio with M.I.D. (Major) E.T. Rich 12.R.E. plus all miniatures. Death plaque to Major Christopher Stiles Rich R.F.A., died 1915 from an aeroplane accident, having been attached to the Royal Flying Corps. Also included are some 14 Masonic and other association jewels including gold, a large and heavy bronze 1897 Jubilee medallion and a silver Isaac Newton medallion. The ephemera: Several good photograph albums, the great majority taken by Col. Rich including excellent officially produced albums containing many images of Afghanistan and others circa 1907 to 1920, these in relation to his surveying duties. Several extensive reports including "slavery and human sacrifice on the North East frontier of Burma" and hand-written and typed drafts of the same, "Estimates of cost of motor roads in South East Persia". Other photograph albums, loose photographs, many of Col. Rich as a cadet and young officer, illuminated manuscripts including retirement from the Survey of India 1928. Private postcard albums with many family photographs but including military images. Sketchbook "Kashmir sketches by Aileen Rich Aug 1918", a large presentation silver cup to Major E.T. Rich "On Desertion of Bachelorhood 8th Jan 1909". (See illustration)
Levasseur, Henri Louis—Schalmeienspielerin—(Paris 1853-1934 ebd.) Junges Mädchen in langem, fließendem Gewand in ausschreitender Tanzpose in zwei Pfeifen blasend, auf runder Sockelplatte und profiliertem Marmorpostament. Bronze vergoldet, die Büste, Arme und Füße aus Elfenbein. Auf dem Sockel Namenszug des Künstlers. H. 37 cm.
Schale mit Triton und Nereide—Frankreich, um 1900—Ovale, geschweifte Messingplatte, darauf ein Wellen imitierender Natursockel, an den Spitzen die aus den Wogen strebenden Oberkörper der Meereswesen, welche die ovale Steinschale mit ihren Händen umfassen. Bronze, goldbraun patiniert. 17 x 46,5 x 19 cm.
Mörser—17./18. Jh.—Zylindrischer Korpus mit glockig ausschwingendem Rand; Fuß und Rand mit einem breiten Band aus Profilen geziert, der Mantel mit vier großen gravierten und gepunzten Blattmotiven; zwei eckige Henkel; Krukenpistill. Bronze. H. 16 cm, Pistill L. 29,5 cm. - Rand mit Scharten.
Öllampe—Vorderer Orient—Auf rundem glockenförmigem, mit Profirillen geziertem Fuß die schraubbare, runde Schale mit zwei Ösenlöchern, schmaler Ausguss mit vollplastischem Stierkopf als Abschluss. Bronze. H. 8 cm, L. 14 cm. - Altersschäden, hintere Öse abgebrochen, wohl Hängeleuchte, mit schöner Patina.
Delesalle, Edouard—Antike Frauengestalt—(1823-1851) Achteckiger Sockel, darauf antikisch gekleidete Dame, sich in nachdenklicher Pose auf eine Felssäule stützend, im Haar Blütenschmuck. Bronze, schwarzbraun patiniert. Am Sockel Namenszug und Gießereistempel „Bronze AL Bronze garantie o titre“. H. 26,7 cm.
