The Louis XV inspired scrolling clock case surmounted by an asymmetric crest of flowers & foliage with feathery acanthus sprays adorning the scrolling sides festooned with pendant floral garlands and sweeping down to form voluted feet. The clock dial signed A. MESNARD & FILS BORDEAU, inset with enamelled numeral cartouches with Roman numerals counting the hours and an outer ring of Arabics counting the minutes. The case 21 ins (54 cms) high. The accompanying candelabra each having two candle cups raised on sweeping foliate cast branches with a spur of foliage to the centre above tortoiseshell veneered supports, 16 ins (41 cms) in height.

The clock movement set in a dark patinated surround of breaking waves with reddish-brown patinated sea-horses emerging from the corners rearing up and bearing between them a large seashell surmounted by the prominent figure of Neptune, 27½ ins (70 cms). The garniture urns festooned in seaweed with swirling waves, swooping seabirds and figures of fishermen, standing on marble bases 19¾ ins (50 cms) in height.
