Over time he developed personal relationships with many renowned artists including Ralph McQuarrie, Drew Struzan, Lawrence Noble, and Dave Dorman. In 1986, Plumb organized the "Space Fantasy & Reality Art Expo" at the Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest, California, to benefit the handicapped. The event was supported by contributions from Plumb's artist friends and even Lucasfilm - all of whom loaned materials to Plumb for the display. It was through these personal relationships that Plumb acquired many of the finest pieces in his collection. Throughout the years, Plumb organized or appeared at countless other events and shows, where he proudly displayed his collection and discussed his passion for Star Wars original art with both artists and fans. In 1996, Plumb hosted a panel at San Diego Comic Con on collecting Star Wars artwork specifically. In 2001, he and a small group of fellow collectors commissioned Lawrence Noble to produce the now-famous "Bronze Yoda." GILL PARKER (BRITISH, CONTEMPORARY) AN EQUESTRIAN BRONZE 'MRS MOSS' DATED 1984 The brood mare depicted standing, signed and inscribed to cast, dated 1984 and numbered 1 33.5cm high, base 28cm wide Provenance: Acquired from The Sladmore Gallery by the vendor's father. With accompanying paperwork. A member of the Society of Equestrian Artists and experienced horsewoman, this was the first work produced by Gill Parker in collaboration with The Sladmore Gallery. She writes about this first visit to capture a likeness of the mare; "One day I was asked to meet at the gallery to discuss a commission for one of their clients. Edward drove me out of London but wouldn't tell me where we were going. He told me later that recognising how shy I was, he thought I would get too nervous. After about an hour he turned up the long drive towards Woburn Abbey. This was to be my first major commission and it was of course, as predicted, a horse. Not just any horse, but a famous brood mare called Mrs Moss!" The owner, Henrietta Russell, Dowager Duchess of Bedford, was delighted with the bronze and wrote in 1984: "We now have the bronze and it is a great joy to us. I know that we will have the pleasure of looking at her for the rest of our lives and future generations will know that the incredible Mrs Moss looked like as Gill has captured, so perfectly, every nuance of her being."
