Martin Baskett & Co, Paris, a French ormolu mantel clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the backplate signed in engraved scroll Martin Baskett & Co, Paris along with a roundel stamped Baschet Baullier, Paris, 5641, the round dial having black Roman numerals, blued steel moon hands and with a repeat of the retailer's name, the gilt-metal case of classical form depicting a young girl under a tree playing with a bronze dog, standing on a trellis base with floral mounts, height 38cm.* Biography Baschet et Baullier are recorded as working in Rue Vendome, Paris from circa 1840 until at least 1850 and patented a rementoir for an electric clock movement in 1856.
ANONYME VERS 1850, Boîte à oiseau chanteur. BOITIER : rectangulaire en laiton doré sur 4 pieds. Les quatre côtés ornés de plaques émaillées representant un cartouche bleu sur fond blanc, le pourtour est orné de guirlandes de laurier sur fond d'émail bleu (manques). Poussoir en forme d'oiseau sur le devant pour le déclenchement du chant. Ouverture sur le dessus avec couvercle ovale orné d'une miniature "paysage animé". En déclenchant l'automate, le médaillon du couvercle découvre un oiseau au plumage multicolore qui s'anime et siffle. MOUVEMENT : mécanique avec remontage à clef au dessous.
