A Japanese Boxwood Three Case Inro, Each section having relief medallions of bronze and silver depicting various species of birds, foliage and a vessel. Together with a boxwood ojime decorated with dragon forms and a carved ivory netsuke depicting a beetle upon a strawberry. Inro: 2.75 x 2 inches. Netsuke: 1.5 inches.
Jessie Preston (American, 1873-1942) A Three Arm Lotus Flower Candelabrum, Bronze, Signed. Three arm Lotus flower and lily pad motif on three intertwining arms rising from a circular base with a stylized wave and three koi fish design. Provenance: Acquired by owner`s family in Chicago early 20th century. Jessie Preston was a Chicago metalsmith, active between the years of 1900 to 1918. Although she was primarily known as an Arts & Crafts designer, her pieces have an undeniable Art Nouveau quality. Preston`s specialty was creating elaborate florifom candelabra, but she is also recognized for her candlesticks, lamps and jewelry. h: 18 x w: 16.50 in.Note condition: the weld on one of the arms has loosened but is not detached.
