1745 DATED JACOBITE CROSS PENDANT. A most unusual hand- made pendant in the form of a 5-pointed cross design incorporating various Jacobite images including thistles and flowers together with the date 1745. It is made from bronze sheet, cut to represent the crown of a thistle; Jacobite items are scarce as most were thrown away following the defeat of Prince Charles Stewart at Culloden. 200-250

CHINESE HAN DYNASTY BRONZE SWORD. An exactly as excavated example of a traditional Chinese bronze sword from the Han dynasty. The overall length is 19 inches and the blade is 1 ¾ inches at the widest point tapering to a point with a raised medial ridge running the length of the blade. A GILT BRONZE MOUNTED COMMODE-TOMBEAU WITH RED MARBLE TABLETOP, STAMPED MONDON, JME, 18TH CENTURY With and scrolling vegetative decoration and marquetry, the asymmetrical handles and detailing in gilt bronze, with a cross piece between the drawers and a red marble tabletop, two drawers below and two above separated by a cross piece, with stamps under the tabletop reading J.M.E. and Mondon , attributing the commode to the work of Francois Mondon, and indicating that it had been reviewed and approved by the jure des menuisiers-ebenistes , height: 85.5 cm (33 5/8 in.), width:133 cm (52 3/8), depth: 65.5 cm (25 3/4 in.) LOT NOTES Francois Mondon (French 1694-1770) was an ebeniste who worked alongside other esteemed furniture makers and artisans of the time such as Pierre Migeon. He was based in Faubourg Saint-Antoine, a suburb of Paris known as a hub of furniture manufacture and sale since before the time of Louis XV.
