An impressive French Art Nouveau bronze of "La Danseuse A La Pomme" by Jean Leon Gerome (1824-1904), the well cast female figure in flowing robes holding an apple, marked J L Germone and foundry mark to reverse for “Siot-Decauville Fondeur”, significant loss of applied gilt decoration and discolouration, 51cm high, see Christie`s sale 6916 (17 June 2004) lot 54 for a similar example the statue has unfortunately lost quite a large amount of its gilt work as it has been in the current owners garden. The original piece was exhibited in c1893 at the Cercle de L`Union Artistique and was formed of marble with ivory bust, arms and feet with applied jewels.
