A most unusual hand- made pendant in the form of a 5-pointed cross design incorporating various Jacobite images including thistles and flowers together with the date 1745. It is made from bronze sheet, cut to represent the crown of a thistle; Jacobite items are scarce as most were thrown away following the defeat of Prince Charles Stewart at Culloden. 200-250

The overall length is 19 inches and the blade is 1 ¾ inches at the widest point tapering to a point with a raised medial ridge running the length of the blade. LOT NOTES Francois Mondon (French 1694-1770) was an ebeniste who worked alongside other esteemed furniture makers and artisans of the time such as Pierre Migeon. He was based in Faubourg Saint-Antoine, a suburb of Paris known as a hub of furniture manufacture and sale since before the time of Louis XV.
