Der figürliche Bildhauer Altenstein studierte an der Akademie in Stuttgart, war wissenschaftlicher Assistent an der TU Braunschweig und von 1975 bis 2009 Professor an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Paar imposante KommodenItalien, Ende 18. Jahrhundert87 x 142 x 60 cmPalisander und Amaranth, vergoldete Bronzebeschläge. Beide mit späteren Breccia Marmorplatten über zwei bombierten Schüben, sans-travers eingelegt mit Würfelmarketerie auf geschwungenen Beinen. Eine Kommode mit rotem Samt ausgekleidet. Rest. mit Ergänzungen, kleinere Verluste an den Ecken und Kanten.Die hier angebotene Rokokokommoden gehören zu den schönsten in Rom in der Zeit um 1765 bis 1770 hergestellten Kommodenmöbeln überhaupt. Meist wurden sie mit massiv furnierten Marmorplatten hergestellt, eine besondere Technik bei der ein harmonisches und gespiegeltes Bild erzielt werden konnte. Darüberhinaus bestechen die fein ziselierten und feuervergoldeten Beschläge in Bronze. Dass Rom im 18. Jahrhundert nicht nur ein Zentrum des Luxus-Möbelbaus war,sondern auch ganz hervorragende Bronziers aufzuweisen hatte, das zeigen in eindrücklichster Weise die Beschläge unserer Kommode, die fein, wie von einem Goldschmied bearbeitet, die Schauseiten der Möbels zieren. Außergewöhnlicher Sécretaire-à-AbattantParis, zugeschrieben Adam Weisweiler wohl unter der Direktion von Martin-Eloi Lignereux, um 1800121 x 86 x 35 cmAmaranth, Zitronenholz, feuervergoldete Bronze, Sèvres-Porzellanplaketten. Die rechteckige, weiß und grau geäderte Marmorplatte mit umlaufender Galerie über einer aufklappbaren Front mit floral bemalter Sèvres-Porzellanplakette und grünem und teils vergoldetem Ledereinsatz, das Innenleben mit vier Schüben und offenen Fächern, flankiert von vergoldeten Karyathiden, über einem geheimen Friesschub, mit vergoldtem, floralen Bronzedekor verziert, auf achteckigen, sich verjüngenden Beinen, die durch einen durchbrochenen gearbeiteten und geschwungenen Steg verbunden sind. Juli 2017, Lot 105Die Verwendung von teuren Sèvres-Porzellanplatten an französischen Möbeln kann mit der wachsenden Bedeutung der Rolle der marchands-merciers im 18. Jahrhundert gesehen werden. Diese von Diderot als "Händler von allem, Hersteller von nichts" bezeichneten Unternehmer, die zugleich Designer und Dekorateure waren, fungierten als Bindeglied zwischen wohlhabenden Kunden und den besten Ebenisten. Sie waren für die Dekoration der schönsten Pariser Wohnhäuser aber auch dem internationalen Adel verantwortlich, bestimmten die Mode und wurden selbst zu den größten Kunden der Porzellanmanufakturen wie der von Sèvres, indem sie Porzellanplatten in Möbel integrierten. Thomas-Joachim Hebert, Simon Poirier und Dominique Daguerre gehörten zu den bekanntesten Marchands-Merciers. Daguerre war es, der Weisweiler am meisten in Anspruch nahm und ihn mit der Anfertigung von Möbeln mit Porzellanplaketten beauftragte, wie z. B. ein vergleichbares Modell wie dieses Kabinett im Palast von Pawlowsk.
