A group of Indian bronze devotional figures, 19th century, comprising a figure of Vishnu depicted with three heads and six arms, 21cm high, another smaller, 11cm high, a niche stand with three associated figures of Vishnu and two attendants, 18cm, three figures of Ganesh, the largest, 12.5cm, a figure of Krishna, 12.5cm and a group of Hindu deities seated on a square base, 6cm wide and one other worn figure, 7.5cm (12)Provenance: Francis Dundas Farquharson (1835-1882), thence by descentFrancis was the second son of James Farquharson of Invercauld and served in |India with (then) Brigadier-General James Hope Grant for the march to Lucknow and was stationed circa 1857 with the first battalion 60th Rifles at Meerut. He became Lieutenant-Colonel in the 60th Rifles and served as aide-de-camp to General Sir James Hope Grant commander in chief (as Lieutenant-General) of the Chinese Expeditionary Force.
CORRECTION SHOULD READ: A large Tibetan bronze and mounted teapot and cover, 19th century, of ovoid from, applied stylised dragon handle, the spout issuing from a dragon`s mouth, with chased repousse-work `dragon` panels and foliate borders, the mounts are probably paktong as it does not test as having any precious metal content, 36cm acrossPLEASE NOTE: This is not silver-mounted as it does not test as having any precious metal content but may possibly be mounted in Paktong.
