A Chinese bronze iron, probably 19th century, the sides with characters on a leiwen ground, set with wood handle inlaid with hardstones, 29cm.length; also a Sino Tibetan bronze buddha, 12.5cm.high; a small bronze censer and cover; a small bronze vase, and a pair of carved wood buddhist lion dogs.
Seven silver and four bronze medallions, mostly relating to horticulture, including National Rose Society, National Chrysanthemum Society and The Royal Horticultural Society, with nine fitted cases and a silver and gilt quatrefoil shaped award plaque, decorated with floral motifs, mostly circa 1900.
A Mamluk style bronze candlestick, engraved and inlaid with panels of script and camels and riders, with bands of foliage and animals, later converted into a table lamp, 24cm high, 21.7 cm diameter, together with a similar candlestick, later converted into a table lamp, probably 19th century Egypt or Syria. Large bronze plaque mounted on oak panel, Signed by the Sculpture AUGUST MAILLARD and dated 1923. Mailard was born 1864 Paris. Trained at the school of Fine Arts in Paris in the studio of Alexandre Falguiere. Subsequently, he became professor at the School of Fine Arts. He produced numerous busts and memorials of personalities, as well as medal and commemorative works for French towns, and he exhibited at the Salon of French Artists Society in 1885, at the Winter Fair in 1942, 1943 and 1944. He died during 'the fighting of the Liberation in 1944, hit by a stray bullet while he was on the threshold of his house Neuilly-sur-Seine.
