‡ AFTER JEAN DE BOULOGNE, CALLED GIAMBOLOGNA, (1529-1608), A LARGE CONTINENTAL PATINATED BRONZE MODEL OF MERCURY LATE 19TH OR EARLY 20TH CENTURY Characteristically portrayed wearing a winged petasus and sandals, and holding his caduceus, held aloft on the breath of Zephyrus, 190cm high, 100cm wide overall ‡ UK import VAT at the reduced rate (currently 5%) The Mercury is one of the most famous and replicated works of the Renaissance, but was originally intended by Giambologna to be viewed on its own and importantly, from all sides -thoroughly in line with his Mannerist ideals. It was only in the 19th century that casts after the original model were offered for sale as pairs, the Mercury more usually being allied with Fortuna, but sometimes with Iris, and more rarely with Fame (Pheme in Greek, Fama to the Romans). Giambologna's original bronze of 1580 was first installed at the Villa Medici in Rome, being positioned at the order of Ferdinando de Medici atop a fountain which formed a focal point on the formal staircase between the sumptuous gardens and the loggia entrance to the Villa In 1780 the Mercury was moved to the Uffizi Museum, and then finally in 1865, to the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence.Mercury is the god of trade and is a symbol of the Exchange in the Netherlands, a similar model to the present lot adorns the gallery over the trading floor Beursplein 5 in the Berlage Stock Exchange, Amsterdam, keeping a watchful eye on the traders below Condition Report: Some signs of surface wear to the patina from handling and use, this includes to areas such as the calf, right side of the flank, elbows, etc. The right feather to his helmet is loose. Lord Mayor 'This 'Kitty Wilkinson' Baths and Wash-House was erected by the Baths Committee of the Corporation of Liverpool and was opened on the tenth day of September 1925 by the Lord Mayor. Baths Committee Chairman Alderman Harold E. Davies. Deputy Chairman Councillor W. T. Roberts. Alderman J. W. Walker.', various councillors' names, and Walter Moon, Town Clerk, names of Land Steward and Surveyor and Engineer and Chief Superintendents of Baths, with Liver Bird emblem to the top, dated either side 1924-1925, within a shield-shaped wooden frame, 74 x 57cm.Footnote: Catherine Wilkinson was an Irish immigrant, wife of a labourer who became known as 'The Saint of the Slums'. In 1832 during a cholera epidemic, she had the only boiler in the neighbourhood, so she invited those with infected clothes or linens to use it, thus saving many lives.

Olympics Rebecca Adlington signed 12x8 colour photo. Rebecca Adlington OBE (born 17 February 1989) is a British former competitive swimmer who specialised in freestyle events in international competition. She won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400-metre freestyle and 800-metre freestyle, breaking the 19-year-old world record of Janet Evans in the 800-metre final. Adlington was Britain's first Olympic swimming champion since 1988, and the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908. [2] After winning her first World Championship gold over 800 metres in 2011, along with silver in the 400 metres at the same meet, she won bronze medals in both the women's 400-metre and 800-metre freestyle events in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Tim Cotterill / "Frogman", Leg Over, a limited edition bronze sculpture of a climbing frog, model BF3, signed, numbered 331/500, dated '92, overall height 31cm, approximate width 17cm.Condition report:The front left foot of the frog has one toe bent upright which has resulted in some black enamel loss to that toe and there is also some lost enamel on the adjacent toe. There is also a 5mm loss of green enamel to the upper front left limb (see images). There is a very small chip to enamel above the right eye. A small enamel loss to one of the toes on the trailing rear left leg. Some scratch marks to the underside of the body. Also a small chip to the black enamel on the underside of the rear left leg, near to the signature and green felt pad.
