A bracket-mounted bronze ship's bell, 'HMS Sancroft 1944', on shaped bracket, 30cm high, bell mount 15cm. Originally 'Empire Baffin' cargo ship built in 1941 by Lithgows Ltd, Port Glasgow, commissioned in 1943 as HMS Sancroft, being converted to a cable-laying ship for Operation Pluto, returned to the MoWT in 1946, sold and renamed 'Clintonia', final change of ownership in 1960, renamed 'Aspis', scrapped in 1963. Empire Baffin was a member of a number of convoys during WWII and used in support of Operation Overlord as HMS Sancroft.
