Officers regimental coloured field service cap with bronze regimental badge and a framed glazed watercolour of regimental interest. Consigned by the daughter of Captain Rowley, never been offered for sale before.

Presentation Bronze Military Figure of a Swedish Life Guard by Alfred Ohlson (1868-1940), Presented to a Swedish Officer who was Killed in Action During the Finish Civil War in 1918, fine example of a bronze figure of a officer from the Swedish Life Guards in full ceremonial uniform with parade busby and sword in hand. Mounted onto a polished marble plinth stand with silver plaque having engraved presentation, “MINNESGAFVA FRAN KUNGL GOTA LIFGARDES OFFICERSKAR TILL P. G. GLIMSTEDT 1888-1916”. The bronze is signed to the rear of the base “Alfred Ohlson” and has foundry mark for J G Hallberg. Figure stands 54 ½ cms including the base. We believe that the statue was presented by officers of the Swedish Life Guard regiment to Peter (Per) Gustav Glimstedt who was born in Stockholm in 1871. He was an officer in the Gota Life Guards. He served with the unit in the Congo between 1894-1898. He also served as an instructor to the Persian Gendarmerie. In February 1918 he went to Finland and served as an officer during the civil war, he was the first Swedish volunteer officer to be killed during the Finish Civil War on 28th February 1918.

Standing holding his rifle with fixed bayonet (bayonet been repaired at one time). Rear of the bronze is marked “Copyright MAPPIN & WEBB LD”. Mounted on a polished rectangular base.

Presentation Bronze Statue of Imperial German Generalfeldmarschall Albrecht Theodor Emil Graf von Roon, Presented to an Officer of the Fusilier-Regt Graf Roon (Ostpreusisches) Nr 33, the bronze figure shows the famous Imperial German generalfeldmarschall in full military uniform, wearing neck order and holding his generals pickelhaube in hand. Figure is mounted onto a polished marble stand. To the centre of the stand is a brass shield plaque which is engraved “SEINEM SCHEIDENDEN KAMERADEN HAUPTMANN DIECKMANN DAS OFFIZIERKORPS DES FUSILIER-REGTS GRAF ROON (OSTPREUSS) No33 1888-1909”. Stands 34cms high.

WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Infantry Assault Badge in Bronze, fine un-maker marked example retaining much of the original bronze wash finish. Award is complete with the original pin and catch fixing to the reverse of the award. Small area of exposed metal to the reverse where the bronze finish has been scrapped off. Overall a good example.

WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Panzer Assault Badge in Bronze by Karl Wurster, scarce solid backed bronze tomback example with the makers “W” mark to the top of the reverse. Badge is the die type 2. Complete with the original pin and catch fixing to the reverse. Good untouched example. Scarce WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Panzer Assault Badge in Bronze by Hymmen & Co, fine example of a semi scooped out assault badge in bronze, characteristic for the maker pin and catch fixing to the reverse of the badge. Reverse marked “L/53” for the maker of Hymmen & Co, the makers mark is towards the top of the reverse, known as the “High Maker Mark” type. Some areas of oxidisation but generally still much of the bronze finish remains to the award. See page284 & 285 of “The German Panzer Assault Badge of World War II” by Philippe De Bock for details of this maker.

WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Panzer Assault Badge for 50 Engagements by Joseph Felix & Sohne (JFS), an interesting example of a bronze grade maker marked 50 engagements tank assault badge. The award has the correct crimped fittings to the reverse of the award. Some of the dark bronzed finish remains to the centre panzer tank. Complete with the original fixing rivets to the reverse. The pin catch and hook both show stress marks under magnification and are magnetic which is both correct for this maker. The blackened number box has the thin numbers which again is correct for 50 engagement awards. Badge has JFS makers mark to the reverse of the wreath. Overall this is a good condition award. Very Rare German Army / Waffen-SS Panzer Assault Badge for 75 Engagements by Joseph Felix & Sohne (JFS), fine example of the rare bronze grade version of the 75 engagements Panzer Assault award badge by the firm Joseph Felix & Sohne (J.F.S), the award has just the remains of the typical late war light bronze wash finish which can only be seen in the highlights of the wreath. The panzer tank has the flaws which are associated with original badges by this maker. Reverse of the award has the crimped hardware catch and pin fittings. The catch and the hook both show stress marks. The rear hardware is magnetic. Rivets to the reverse of the wreath, securing the tank to the wreath, under glass you can see small indentation. Overall this is in our opinion a very good example of a very scarce combat badge. Compares to examples shown in Volume II of “The German Panzer Assault Badge of World War II” by Philippe De Bock.

British 3rd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes (F.S) Commando Knife, with blackened bronze one piece ribbed grip and nut fitting to the handle. The ferrule with cross keys and “3”, unmarked oval guard. Double edged stiletto blade with some of the original blueing remaining. Some surface rusting to the blade. Housed in a leather scabbard with stud fittings. Blade 17 ½ cms, overall 31cms. Tip of scabbard damaged. Accompanied by a Scandinavian small hunting sheaf knife and a bone handled knife in a leather scabbard. (3 items)

Clock inserted to the centre with black Roman numerals and both hands. Stands 44 ½ cms high. 28 ½ cms in width and 9 ½ cms in depth. Remains in good condition.

Countess Feodora Von Gleichen (British, 1861-1922) A small Bronze of Francis Clark in his Highland formal attire, signed on the base F. Gleichen 1895, 40cm high, together with a framed photographic print of Francis ClarkFootnotesCountess Feodora Georgina Maud Gleichen was a relative of Queen Victoria and studied at the Slade School under Alphonse Legros and then in Rome, she regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy and the New Dudley Gallery. She was posthumously named as the first woman member of the Royal British Society of Sculptures. Her major works include the 1906 Bronze statue of Diana in Hyde Park and the 1914 statue of Florence Nightingdale at the Derbyshire Infirmary Francis Clark (1841-1895) was the Nephew of John Brown, Queen Victoria's faithful personal attendant and former ghillie to her late Husband Prince Albert, Clark was the Queens Highland Attendant for 25 years a role he shared with John Browns brother Hugh, he was awarded the Victoria Faithful Service Medal for 21 years' service in 1891, he died in Buckingham Palace and is buried at Braemar.
