All items were officially exported from Hong Kong by shippers and handlers recommended and approved by the Mass Transit Railway Corporation of Hong Kong on 10th May 2003, with full documentation. Itemised inspection certificates - dated 24th February, 16th and 23rd April and 7th May 2003 (report No 0254/03) by J & H Surveying Co Ltd, Marine Surveyors - number and detail the items exported. A copy is available at Cheffins’ offices. The shipment arrived in Felixstowe, UK on 29th May 2003 and was received for transhipment by Redfern International Logistics of Leeds, recorded in their sales invoice no. IDSI2926, which details fees paid for the appropriate Sea Import Customs and Sea Import Documentation. The dating of Chinese sculpture is notoriously difficult and all such references in this catalogue are based entirely upon style and should not be relied on as a statement of fact. Crown within laurel sprays to obverse centre, legend TO THE HEROES OF COLOONY 5th SEPR 1798 in surround. Reverse bears double turreted castle with central spire flying swallowtail flag, resting in laurel and palm sprays, CORPORATION AND CITIZENS OF LIMERICK in surround. Pierced for teardrop suspension loop. GC Awarded to those of the Limerick Militia under Charles Vereker, who fought the joint French-Irish army under General Humbert at Coloony, near Sligo, on 5th September 1798.

Medals loose. Sapper William Henry Feathers landed in France on the 11th September 1915, whilst serving with the 97th Field Company Royal Engineers he was Killed in Action on the 26th June 1916. He was a native of Shepherd Bush Middlesex.

Private Edward Thomas Alford a native of Barnet Hertfordshire volunteered into the Middlesex Regiment and landed in France on the 25th July 1915 he was Killed in Action on the 16th September 1916.

WW1 9th West Yorkshire Regiment Serbian Gold Medal for Bravery Group of Four. A very rare regimental medal combination one of only two awarded to 11702 Private George Bradley West Yorkshire Regiment, a veteran of the Gallipoli landings 1915. Comprising: 1914/15 Star (PTE W. YORK), British War Medal, Victory Medal (PTE W.YORK), Serbian Gold Medal for Bravery (Gilt Bronze). Group mounted Court style for display. Serbian Gold Medal for Bravery London Gazette 15th February 1917. Private George Bradley was born near Castleford and was a miner by trade volunteering on the 31st August 1914. He was punished for being absence without leave before embarking for Gallipoli on the 2nd July 1915. He was wounded at Gallipoli, but remained with Battalion, after the evacuation he was transferred to the Western Front on the 2nd July and was once again wounded on the 10th October 1917 during the Battle of Poelcapelle. On this day the Battalion suffered Other Ranks 47 Killed, 43 Missing and 113 wounded.

Royal Engineers Airborne Forces. Comprising: Maroon beret with bronze RE collar/cap badge. The lining dated 1946 Kangol Wear Limited. 1940 pattern battledress blouse the left breast with three rows of medal ribbons including DSO, MC Order of Leopold, Belgium Croix de Guerre. Each sleeve with airborne Pegasus badges and right with parachute qualification wing. Label to interior size 13. RE Officer Side Cap. Selection of photographs ... badges... medal ribbons etc. Good clean condition. (Quantity). Also see Lot 110 for Badges Lieutenant Colonel Hugh Widdington Moor DSO., MC was educated at Cambridge and was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1933. In the pre war years he saw service on the North West Frontier. At the outbreak of WW2 he held the rank of Lieutenant promoted to Captain February 1940. He was awarded the DSO (LG 19/4/45) as CO of 204 Field Company RE have previously being awarded the MC (LG 19/10/44) whilst serving with the 510 Field Co. RE attached to the 1/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Both awards were for the campaign in North West Europe. Remaining with the army after the end of the war and serving with the airborne forces he was promoted to Acting Lieutenant Colonel in August 1945 and retired with this rank in 1953. He was later appointed head of ITV horse racing broadcasts retiring in the 1980.

Japanese early 19th Century Tanto Short Sword A good example with a 12 1/2 inch single edged blade, the cutting edge showing a good hamon. Cooper bronze Habaki, with black lacquered hilt mounts ribbed leather grip mounted floral and vine Menuki. Housed in black and red lacquer scabbard. Provision for short knife which is now absent. Grip has been secured to the tang and can not be removed by the auctioneers.
