A good 19th century French kingwood, ebonised, marquetry and gilt bronze serpentine centre table, the top with large marquetry reserve depicting courtly figures in a garden landscape with a fountain and palace buildings, within rococo foliate scroll borders with seated cherubs and kingwood cross banded and gilt bronze edge mounts, over a serpentine frieze with ebonised floral marquetry panels, raised on angular cabriole legs with floral scroll mounts and foliate sabots, 28½ x 19½in. (72.5 x 49.5cm.), 30in. (76.25cm.) high, some losses to one corner of top.

A pair of Japanese bronze vases, probably Meiji period (1868-1912), with trumpet neck, cast in high relief with dragons, birds and flowering foliage, dark brown patina, 9¾in. (24.8cm.) high. (2)* Condition:  Vases with pin holes and faults in the casting, otherwise good. 

Lot 1398

Two Nigerian Benin bronze stylised figures, with grey patination, one of a cow with crescent shaped horns and three birds upon its back and horns, the other of a cockerel, both with applied disc or part-disc decoration, the cow 6½in. (16.5cm.) high. (2)* Condition: Both in good condition overall. The cow has two patches of flaking to the surface of the metal on the back. Both have a few iron rust marks from pins in the surface of the bronze. Both have been kept outside in a garden, hence the grey patination to the bronze.

Lot 1391

A bronze group of two deer, the doe walking in unison, the underside of one, stamped 'MADE IN GERMANY', 6¼in. (15.8cm.) long.* Condition: Good brown/red patina, possibly originally mounted on a base. Legs are slightly bent and does not sit properly unsupported.

A Chinese archaic style patinated bronze ewer, probably early 20th century, flattened baluster form with sinuous dragon handle and chased lappet decoration with stylised beast head motifs, a taotie mask band above the keywork flared foot, seal mark in archaic script cast to base, 10¼in. (26cm.) high.* Condition: Good condition with no faults. Minor wear to patination to edges.

A rare Victorian novelty bronze and gilded tobacconist's counter / bar cigar lighter, in the form of a fireman with hose, the realistic fireman with fine detail, the belt having registered design number 'Rd 69465', dating piece to 1887, the lighter having gilt helmet with moving chain chin strap, gilt buttons and epaulettes, gilt hose, the hollow tube enabling the gas flow for flame, raised on stepped base and having pipe attachment beneath, 10¼in. (26cm.) high.* Condition: Good condition - some wear to patination and gilding from handling. No damage to bronze.

A bronze figural group 'LE LOUP ET LE CHIEN', the bronze depicting 'The wolf and the dog', from the fifth fable of book 1 of the collection of the Fables of La Fontaine by Jean De La Fontaine, 5½in. (14cm.) long.* Condition: In good condition, with nice patina.

Rare novelty cold painted bronze grasshoppers playing tennis, Austrian, late 19th century, the grasshoppers with realistic ribbed early celluloid wings, each holding a racket, one in full serve with ball, 2½in. (6.4cm.) high. (2) Condition: wings intact, showing most of their paint, very good.

A rare Victorian novelty treen Cambridge University rowing oar dip pen, the spoon with applied Cambridge University insignia shield on a pale blue ground, the sleeve in brown leatherette, the bronze tone tip marked with the Birmingham makers T. Hessin & Co and numbered 1029, overall length, 10 1/8in. (25.8cm.). *Condition: in excellent condition, with very little wear.

A unique and extremely rare 19th century gilt bronze desktop box fashioned as a snooker table, top quality box with fine detailing, the hinged lid with sunken green baize playing surface, two snooker cues with wood effect grain and patterned detailing, three balls, the shaped rectangular surround with two chalks and a plaque to each side showing the scores, 52 and 47, the top opening to reveal a red and gold cushioned velvet interior with eye catching floral patterned design, the sunken rectangular void for storage, the box raised on Regency style turned legs, 4 1/8in. (10.5cm.). *Condition: in excellent condition with no faults found, great patina.

The lid is hinged and underneath is a further lid marked with the French makers Leblanc Freres and number 658, heavy, 2½in. (6.4cm.) high. *Condition: in excellent condition with great dark brown patina, the inner lid with scratches.

A Chinese bronze garlic head bottle vase, probably Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD), the compressed globular body below a waisted neck with swollen garlic head rim, raised on a slightly flared foot, the base with loop to centre, the exterior with mineral encrustation in various colours, some traces of gilding, 14½in. (37cm.) high.* Provenance: Michael Goedhuis, gallery label to underside, stock no. Y 4057.** Condition: Three shallow dents to widest part of body. Above one is a very old split to bronze, which has been well repaired, with a small filled hole to the lower section of split (filler is visible under UV). Small dent with deep scratch to centre to centre of neck. Wear to mineralised encrustation to one side of mouth.

(15cm.). Condition: In good condition, with good colour. Some small paint chips. Possible later base.
