Accompanied by a selection of silver and bronze sports medals awarded to G H Potter. Both medal sets complete with ribbons. Stanley M Potter served in the Royal Fusiliers before being commissioned as a officer, later serving with the Chinese Labour Corps.

WW1 13th (Wirral) Battalion Cheshire Regiment 1916 Casualty Medal Trio & Plaque Group, consisting of 1914-15 star trio awarded to “W-694 PTE W CATON CHES R”, bronze memorial plaque awarded to “WILLIAM CATON”, memorial scroll and printed memorial card in envelope. The group has been mounted on a display board, some tape residue to the reverse of the medals. Private William Caton served with the 13th (Wirral) battalion the Cheshire regiment and he died of wounds received on 16th May 1916. He is buried at Aubigny-en-Artois cemetery France. He was 20 years old at the time of his death. He was from Birkenhead, Wirral Merseyside.

Great War 1st Day of the Somme Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment Memorial Plaque, bronze plaque awarded to “JOSEPH STANLEY SHEARS”, complete with card case. Plaque is worn. Tape residue to the reverse. G-1378 Corporal Joseph Stanley Shears was killed in action on the 1st July 1916, 1st Day of the Battle of the Somme, serving with the 7th battalion of the Queens Royal West Surrey regiment. He is buried at Dantzig Alley cemetery, Mametz, France. A native of Croydon, Surrey. He was 24 years old when he was killed.

Great War Casualty British War Medal and Bronze Memorial Plaque 17th Battalion (Leeds Pals) West Yorkshire Regiment, the British War medal was awarded to “17-305 PTE F R CAVENAGH W YORK R” and bronze memorial plaque “FRANK RICHARD CAVENAGH”. Frank Richard Cavenagh was born on 12th April 1898. He was a Pony driver for a coalmine in 1911. He enlisted in the 17th Bantam Battalion (Leeds Pals) West Yorkshire regiment in 1916. He was wounded in the head during the battle of the Somme and later died of his wounds on 22nd August 1916 in Cambridge Hospital, he is buried in Beckett Street Cemetery, Leeds.

Great War Gallipoli Casualty 1st / 5th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers Memorial Plaque, bronze memorial plaque awarded to “JAMES HARGREAVES YATES”. Remains in very good condition. Company Sergeant Major James Hargreaves Yates was a native of Bury, Lancashire. He was killed on 7th August 1915 and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. An extract from Geoffrey Moorhouse in Helles Foundations published in 1992 wrote, “The 1/5th too had by now been reduced to a token of its original strength. It landed in May with 30 officers and 1000 men. When George Horridge returned to it on August 15th, he found to his horror that it has shrunk to 6 officers and 150 men. Company Sergeant Major Yates was one of those who had disappeared during Horridge’s absence in the Egyptian hospital. In Cairo, before they set sail for the Peninsula, Yates had confided in the young Second Lieutenant his belief that he would die sometime in the months ahead. But he had come through the landing and Third Krithia without a scratch. The night before the Helles diversion he spent several hours quietly alone, at prayer. He went over the top next morning carrying a walking stick, with a pistol in his other hand. He returned from that engagement, too, unharmed. During the night a shell landed in his trench, and that was the end of him.”

Great War Loyal North Lancashire Regiment German Spring Offensive 1918 Casualty Memorial Plaque Grouping, being a bronze memorial plaque awarded to “HERBERT ASHES”, housed in card case and accompanied by original forwarding envelope addressed to his next of kin in Manchester. Complete with the original memorial scroll and forwarding slip for the plaque in card forwarding tube, also the memorial register book. Private Herbert Ashes was killed in action on the 9th April 1918, this was the start of the 2nd phase of the German Spring offensive. He was serving with the 1/4th Battalion Loyal North Lancashire regiment when he was killed. He is commemorated on the Loos memorial.

Great War Gallipoli Casualty Chatham Battalion Royal Naval Division Royal Marine Light Infantry Memorial Plaque, the bronze plaque was awarded to “DENNIS JOSEPH MARREN”. Complete with the card outer case and in good overall condition. Corporal Dennis Joseph Marren was killed in action serving with the Chatham Battalion Royal Naval Division Royal Marine Light Infantry on 1st May 1915 and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. Dennis Joseph Marren was born in Hackney on 20th September 1889. He served with the Chatham Battalion RMLI at Ostend, Dunkirk and the Defence of Antwerp in 1914. His service number was CH/13874. His 1914 star was issued to his widow on 29th April 1920.

Great War Royal Army Medical Corps Officers Lightweight Cuff Rank Tunic, an interesting example which was tailored in New York, USA. Bronze officers regimental collar badges and brass general service tunic buttons. Rank of Lieutenant to the cuffs. Interior collar with additional leather section and the original tailors label which is well worn but New York can be seen. Finely lined interior to the tunic. Some wear and a couple of small repairs. Possibly worn by an American national who volunteered to serve with the British forces in France.

WW1 Royal Engineers Military Cross Winners Cuff Rank Uniform & Equipment Group, good example of a WW1 British officers four pocket cuff rank tunic for the rank of Captain. Bronze officers collar badges and territorial T’s. Above the breast pocket are medal ribbons for the Military Cross (M.C), Queens South Africa medal, Kings South Africa medal and the 1914-15 star. Single metal wound stripe to one sleeve. Leather trim to the tunic cuffs. Standard cloth lining to the interior, sadly no tailors or name label to the interior. Tunic is accompanied by a military issue khaki woollen shirt and tie. Accompanying the tunic is a pair of WW1 period officers breeches. These have been let out in the crutch area where it has been fitted to a display mannequin at some point. Accompanying the uniform is a set of WW1 brown leather Sam Browne equipment, including belt with cross straps, holster, pouch with bullet loops to the flap, map board with field covering and a officers pattern felt covered water bottle. Also accompanied by a pair of officers brown leather boots. The leather work shows some wear and is dry in places. Tunic is a little dusty but generally good example. A nice un-attributed grouping.

Polish Independence Cross with Award Diploma Citation, fine example of the bronze and enamel award without swords, housed in its original red card box of issue with gilt tooled illustration of the award to the lid. Comes complete with its original rolled diploma citation awarding the medal to Michal Ludwik Podgorski. (2 items)

WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Close Combat Clasp in Bronze by Friedrich Linden Ludenscheid, fine zinc made example retaining some of the original bronzed finish to the obverse of the award. Complete with the original pin and catch fixing to the reverse. FLL makers mark and “FEC W.E PEEKHAUS BERLIN”. Award is slightly convex in appearance.
