Sir Winston Churchill - a typed letter on Chartwell, Westerham, Kent headed notepaper dated 10th September 1959 - an interesting letter to Donald Forbes proposing the change of date for the official unveiling of Sir Winston's bronze statue on Salway Hill, Woodford Green 'In view of the forthcoming General Election, I feel after reflection that it would be inappropriate that a non-party ceremony of this kind should be held during the Campaign. Late nineteenth century mantel clock with French eight day movement striking on a bell, signed - Le Roy et Fils Paris, London, black dial with central star motif and ornate Roman numerals, signed - Le Roy & Fils, 211 Regent Street, London, in a black slate case with gilt metal mounts in the Egyptian Revival-style, with pair Egyptian mummies and birds surrounding the dial, surmounted with the bronze sculpture of a Sphinx, 53cm overall height CONDITION REPORT Overall condition good. Movement is clean but lacking pendulum and we are unable to say whether movement is in full working order. Decoration and lettering on dial is worn in places. Case is in excellent condition
