The rear of the shovel and the grips of the tongs are struck with the letter T. All items have been recently polished and cleaned but no obvious faults. We would date these items as second half of 19th century.

Lot 579

Marcelle Mire (late 19th/early 20th century), bronze and ivory figure of a lady with parasol, raised on a marble plinth, signed and numbered 5095. Height 24 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Other than being dusty and dirty this lot is in generally very good condition. There are no issues with the metalwork and only very minor scratches to the paintwork but nothing significant. The face is dirty in the reveals. There is a tiny stress fracture just above the left eye and another one on the right cheek. The marble base is nibbled a little around the sharp edges. There are no significant chips however.

Lot 578

Renee-Paul Marquet (1875-1939), a bronze and ivory figure of a Dutch girl with long pigtails and wearing clogs, raised on a marble plinth, signed "Marquet" and stamped 7743. Height 26 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The figure is in generally good order. There are no hairline cracks to the face. The metalwork is generally in good order. The only minor defect is to the rear two fingers of the left hand. These are partially missing where they grasp the branch. There are minor nibbles to the sharp edges of the marble base but no significant issues.

A bronze figure, discus thrower, raised on a marble stand. Height 63 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The figure is in first class condition. There are no significant scratches or any repairs. The marble base is also in very good condition with no cracks or chips.

A pair of metal busts, Roman figures. Each height 44 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These are mid weight rather than being very heavy. Looking at the underside edge the metal appears to be more of a bronze than say spelter. Both figures are in very good condition with no issues.
