Ray Harryhausen - The Children of The Hydra, set of eight silvered bronze sculptures made by Raven Armoury for the 50th Anniversary of Jason and The Argonauts, each comes individually boxed with hand signed certificate, sculptures include Alpha Skeleton, Beta Skeleton, Gamma Skeleton, Delta Skeleton, Epsilon Skeleton, Zeta Skeleton, Eta Skeleton & Theta Skeleton, edition number 2/250, all cased in original presentation box with a unique brochure 'Children of The Hydra's Teeth' written by Tony Dalton, the sculptures measure roughly 6 inches each in height, box measures 28.5 inches x 17.5 inches. Provenance - Only three sets were made at the time, one for Ray Harryhausen, one for Tony Dalton & the other for James Cameron, it is not known whether any other full sets were produced. This set was one of the last promotional ideas approved by Ray Harryhausen.Background - Tony Dalton was a close friend of Ray Harryhausen for over 40 years and was Curator of the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation which held most of Ray’s photographic and animation collection, including models. Tony has compiled and written five books on Ray - An Animated Life (2003), The Art of Ray Harryhausen (2005), A Century of Model Animation (2008), Ray Harryhausen: A Life in Pictures (2010) and Fantasy Scrapbook (2011). He is without doubt the leading expert on Harryhausen and has also given many lectures on the subject. All the items for sale were given to Tony as gifts beginning in 1977 and ending in 2003. All of the items have unrivalled provenance and are auctioned with a signed letter from Tony Dalton for each individual lot.
