An Indian Shiva Lingam Stone, the Shiva Lingam is a symbolic representation of the Hindu god Shiva and believed by Hindus to have sacred life-affirming properties.  Found in the Namada River, India these stones are believed to derive from a meteorite impact and represent the union between heaven and earth. Lingams are shaped naturally in an elongated form and collected by the locals and polished to a high sheen.This particular example is bronze, green with reddish-brown patination and is presented on a triangular wooden stand, approx 32 cms high (including stand). Note: This Shiva Lingam was gifted to the film director and cinematographer Nicolas Jack Roeg CBE BSC, who directed David Bowie in the 1970's cult classic 'The Man who Fell to Earth, with letter of provenance.
