3rd-1st century BC. A bronze nude male figurine with broad hat and two lugs above, right arm extended and left arm covered by a mantle, two silver rings looped around the body. See Rolland, H. The figure resembled the Roman god Mercury with the broad hat (petasos) and wings above, while the arms covered by a mantle recalls Hercules's lion-skin garment. The two silver rings are evidently intended as votives offered for good fortune. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

A Kiev culture bronze pendant comprising a triangular plaque with loop above and lobe to each lower angle surrounded by three pierced lugs; red enamel panel to each lobe and the triangle. 3.92 grams, 34mm (1 1/4"). From a private collection; previously in an old central Asian collection; acquired in the late 1940s. The Kiev archaeological culture was located in the basin of the rivers Dnieper and Visla between the 3rd and 5th centuries; archaeologists connect this culture with the historical ancestors of the Slavs. However, there are suggestions that in different regions of the Kiev culture the ethnogenetic processes were not the same. In some cases, the Slavic component prevailed, whilst Baltic and others were dominant elsewhere. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
