HORSTER SOLINGEN'. Bronze hilt with five loop-guards. Horn grip with checkered segments. Long cap, ending in a lion's head. Non-ferrous metal scabbard (small defects and signs of use), of light color, with two bands and bronze lugs, small, iron drag. length 91,2 cm.

ETC., the reverse with two ships at sea. RESOLVTION. ADVENTVRE., the exergue SAILED FROM ENGLAND MARCH MDCCLXXII, the top edge above the King's head bearing traces of original suspender ring, later drilled through the AD of ADVENTVRE to take a ribbon suspender, medal alignment Footnote:- These medals were made for distribution to indigenous people by James Cook and his men of the ships 'Resolution' and 'Adventure' during the Second Voyage of 1772-75. This medal is identical to one sold by Tennants Lot 7 25th September 2019 with the exception that that example was of coin alignment. In worn condition. The original suspender ring has been removed and the edge has been drilled. Nicks to the edge. Made using a cracked die which is evident from the flaw running through the CH of March in the exergue.

A French mid 19th century bronze of a mounted Cavalier, cast by Vittoz, signed Vittoz Bronzier, realistically modeled, mounted on a rectangular base, height 39 cm. Vittoz was a bronze founder. He was a member of the Réunion des Fabricants (Union of Makers) from 1818 and became Vice President in 1844. In particular, he was the regular caster for Cumberworth and Feuchères. His son E. Vittoz set up shop at 48 rue des Marais Saint Martin. The Vittoz business and the rights to all models was sold to a rival company, Labroue, in 1852.
