Single Line bronze Key Token CAWBURN JCN - CARMONDEAN JCN No 12, `C` Configuration. Ex Edinburgh - Bathgate line that was reintroduced in in 1986. The interlocking at Newbridge was delayed and as a consequence, two temporary signal boxes were created at Cawburn Jcn and Carmondean Jcn. In use on this section from 16 Mar 1986 until 4th May 1986. The temporary boxes were then removed following the commissioning of the new interlocking at Newbridge which was controlled from Edinburgh SC.
A fine Chinese archaic bronze Fanghu, Han dynasty (206 BC - 220AD) of squared baluster shape with cast and ring handles and embossed diaper pattern ring top, entirely covered with cuprite malachite and azurite encrustation. Chinese Censer decorated in brown and gilt in imitation of Chinese `splash bronze` ware, Qianlong impressed six character seal mark, late nineteenth century of compressed globular form, the shoulder with a band of moulded key pattern design interrupted by two stylized animal heads and with two finely detailed mask and ring handles, the base with a slightly spreading foot and the top with a short, slightly everted rim, decorated in imitation of ‘splash bronze ware’ with a mottled brown glaze with gilt highlighting, the interior and base similarly decorated and the base also with a well formed embossed six character Qianlong seal mark. Many attempts were made by the eighteenth century potters working for the court to produce porcelain items imitating pieces in other materials. The tradition continued into the nineteenth century and this piece is a very high quality example of this retrospective type of ware." A rare archaic bronze Ding and cover, Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220AD) of flattened globular shape with three slightly cabriole feet and L shaped handles, the rim bearing an old incised inscription; the domed cover also with an old incised inscription and with three looped hooks. Good patina with some malachite encrustation. Provenance: From a private European collection, purchased E. * Third Reich - SS WWII Dress-sword. A fine and rare presentation SS officer’s dress-sword by P.D. Luneschloss, Solingen, c. 1930s-1940s, having damascene single-edged decorative blade with inlaid gilt metal inscription “Meinem Treuen Kampfer - Ludwig Deutsch” and with inlaid facsimile signature inscribed “Heinrich Himmler”, with further engraved inlaid inscription verso “Meine Ehre heist Treue”, silver-plated hilt with bullion-wired grip, applied eagle & swastika in oak-leaf wreath bronze relief badge, and nickel-plated hilt-guard, and having knotted bullion-wired short ribboned sash with macramé acorn finial embroidered with “SS” motif to hilt, together with original black japanned steel sheath, ornamented nickel-plated decorative mount to top, complete with leather belt-frog and steel clasp attachments, the whole encased in original soft chamois leather protective outer sheath, 36in (92cm) long (1)

A large high explosive shell, cast aluminium with bronze bound cast iron base, de-activated, variously stamped 155 HDM, 1106 LCT SIL-1.3, Number DL12, together with an ARP Warden’s steel-helmet, white painted, inscribed “W”-shelter, and two other similar black-painted helmets (one lining detached), also with two ‘Baby-Respirator’ Infant’s wartime gas-masks with in-built cradle support, two handlamps and two other gas-masks, etc. (10)
* Investiture as Prince of Wales, 1911, copper medal, by Fattorini, uniformed bust half left (as Gi. CM31), EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES around, rev., plumes, INVESTITURE CARNARVON CASTLE around, JULY 1911 on ribbon below, 32mm (as Gi. CM33), almost mint state, in original fitted card case with maker’s name Fattorini (illustrated); official silver medal (3), by W. Goscombe John, 32mm (Gi. CM23b; BHM 4079), the first toned, mint state, others extremely fine and these in cases of issue; bronze medal by Vaughtons, uniformed bust facing, rev., crest over inscription, 32mm (Gi. CM28b), extremely fine, in case of issue (5) The first medal is unrecorded in Giordano and BHM. The design is identical to that of the larger medal, Gi. CM33 (38mm) except that the bust does not reach the edge. CM31 is of the same size and has an identical bust, but has a Welsh legend and different reverse. They are listed in BHM as “probably by Messrs Vaughton” but the fitted case would appear to indicate that they were issued by Fattorini & Sons Ltd.
