Wendy Walsh (1915-2014) PULMONARIA watercolour over pencil signed lower right; titled lower left; with David Hendriks Gallery framing label on reverse 14 by 10½in. (35.56 by 26.67cm) Dr. Wendy F. Walsh was one of Ireland`s foremost botanical artists. She illustrated a number of acclaimed botanical books and designed postage stamps for the Irish Post Office. In addition she produced designs for fabric and for pottery.She was known internationally for her books produced in conjunction with the distinguished botanist Dr E.Charles Nelson, former taxonomist at the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin. `An Irish Florilegium` won a bronze medal for the `Most beautiful Book in the World` at the Leipzig Book Fair.Wendy Walsh exhibited internationally and won many awards for her work , including several Gold Medals from the Royal Horticultural Society which attracted many collectors of art as well as those interested in the Fauna and Flora of Ireland, as well as philatelists who hold her stamp designs in high esteem.

She studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and St. Martin`s School of Art, London. She has lived in Madrid since 1963 but visits Ireland regularly and continues to exhibit her sculptures in Dublin galleries.Cynthia Moran Killeavy has exhibited widely all over Spain, Scotland and Ireland including the RHA Annual exhibitions. Her sister Frances Bunch Moran (1928-2002) was a well known watercolour painter.

Historique?: La ligne ""Patchwork"" incluant cuivre et étain est la première série fabriquée par Directional Furniture en 1964, dont la première était justement une console avec un plateau d`ardoise et son miroir. Cette série Patchwork s`est développée avec le partenariat de la boutique Aquetong. The “Patchwork” line, with copper and pewter, was the first line introduced through Directional in.1964 and the first piece was a floating shelf with a slate top and mirror. The technique for the Patchwork line or the “Copper, Bronze and Pewter” series was developed at the Aquetong shop. For this series, Evans used sheet copper, bronzed sheet steel, and sheet copper covered with a wash of tin/lead solder respectively. The sheets were placed one on top of another and nailed to a plywood carcass, blackened slightly with potash, sanded, and varnished. An 18th Century Sevres porcelain and gilt bronze mounted candlestick, the barley twist stem decorated alternately with spiralling turqoise ground, gilt decorated ribbons and garlands of flowers, raised on square porcelain base, mounted with scrolled acanthus capital, berried laurel leaf basal collar and tooled footrim, raised on four bun feet, marked underneath with painted blue interlaced L's, (later adapted as a table lamp) (old repairs), 15cm h. Reference: Victoria and Albert museum, museum number: 798-1882 + 802A-1882 for similar examples. Catalogue entries describe a similarly decorated example as the above lot in the Rothschild collection, Waddesdon Manor.
