Cecil Eric Britten Best (1882-1973) Lots 1050-1057 form part of the collection given to Cecil Best when he lived in Rio de Janeiro by Herbert Edward Inman, a Lloyds marine engineer, who had been in the employment of the Egyptian Government between 1910-1912. The government had been unable to pay Mr Inman so they gave him items recovered from tombs in Lower Egypt. Since Mr Best`s death, the collection has been on loan to Southampton Museum. Eleven Egyptian bronze or copper alloy figures, including Isis and Horus, most with losses, all with verdi gris, 14.5cm max. (11) Provenance: the Cecil Eric Britten Best collection, (1882-1973).
