An Unusual Brass Grande Sonnerie Alarm Carriage Clock, circa 1850, case highly elaborate with floral and leaf decoration throughout, carrying handle and repeat button, base with acanthus leaves and leopards upon a central urn, enamel dial with Roman numerals, Breguet style hands, central alarm hand, unusual subsidiary hand below 6 for petite sonnerie/grande sonnerie/silent selections, twin barrel movement wound from the front, platform cylinder escapement stamped on the cock Fumey, striking on two bells, 18cm high over handle. J-M Fumey was a maker of platform escapements in the mid 19th century. In the 1855 Paris Exhibition he was awarded a Bronze medal. 28.04.17, Glass panels with some chips, case surfaces are slightly discoloured in parts, left hand side with one screw missing, dial with one small hairline crack positioned below the left hand side winding hole, small scratches in parts and minor chips around the right hand side winding hole, movement is dirty and needs cleaning, striking barrel mainspring appears to have broken and unable to wind, the going barrel mainspring is fully wound, alarm is working, the strike work is not working and needs attention.

Photography.- Loecherer (Alois) Two parts of the colossal statue "Bavaria" prepared for transportation, two salt prints from calotype negatives, 278 x 243mm. (11 x 91/2 in.) and 243 x 255 mm. (91/2 x 10 in.), on original card mounts within ruled borders, Loecherer's blind-stamp "A. Loecherer/Photograph/in Munchen" at lower right of images and on mounts below, both inscribed verso in German and apparently priced "8 frcs" each, 1850. ⁂ The head of the statue and the lion standing on the pedestal, each on a wooden base for transportation from the foundry to the site in front of the Hall of Fame, Theresienwiese, in Munich. The bronze statue was commissioned by Ludwig I of Bavaria and stands over 18 metres high. Loecherer's images are among the earliest examples of photo-reportage in Germany.
