A 19th century Nepalese ritual butter lamp – Sukunda. Cast and chiselled bronze of baluster form and repousse ribs to emulate lotus petals. The handle is cast in the form of a dragon and the lamp dish as a leaf. Together with a chained rope twist long spoon.   Sukunda lamps are indigenous to the Newar people of the Kathmandu Valley. They are used for a wide range of religious and social purposes. Approximately 14cm tall.

A fine Gothic Revival parcel-gilt and engraved bronze table casket, by Giroux & Co. (1810-1886),Paris, circa 1860-70Having a domed cover with applied shield, over a rectangular base, each corner with a tracery niche enclosing an ivory figure of a Monarch, the whole bound with pierced quatrefoil strapwork and engraved with scrolling floral and vine foliage, the lock plate engraved 'Alph Giroux et Cie - a Paris', 23.5cm wide, 20cm high to top of handle, 15.5cm deep. CITES ref.
