WOODINGTON (William Frederick) 1806-1893, sculptor and painter. A small collection including two small plaster models for the bronze reliefs on the plinth of Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, of the Battle of the Nile (6 x 5.5cm) and the Death of Nelson (5.8 x 5.5cm), faintly marked Woodington to the reverse; also a photograph of the artist (13.6 x 20cm); a watercolour garden scene sketch; autograph letter signed from Thomas Woolner (sculptor) to Woodington, 1p., 1876, congratulating him on his election to the Royal Academy; and a copy of Woodington's death certificate
A Kalouraz bronze boar circa 8th - 6th century BC standing with a half barrel body and curved tail, the thick neck with a band of beads, pricked ears and a long snout with eyes and tusks, 8.5cm high, 11.5cm long. A Seljuk bronze bird incense burner Persia, circa 11th - 12th century AD modelled as a standing partridge with a large square aperture to the chest and with a pierced and foliage engraved body, with a plume crest, 15.5cm high. A late Bronze Age gold ring circa 1200 - 600BC the interior and exterior with five encirling ribs, 2cm diameter, 7 grams. Provenance Found on farmland near Ripon, Yorkshire, July 1997. Christie's, Fine Antiquities, South Kensington, 25 April 2001, lot 303. The ring is composed of approximately 86 gold with smaller proportions of silver and copper. It has been suggested that these types of rings were used as a form of currency.
A Dogon equestrian group Mali bronze with two mounted figures, 8cm high, a Dogon bronze horse, a near Eastern bronze bull's head fitting, a Persian bronze bull, a bronze animal pendant seal and a carved shell hare amulet. A group of six animals India and Africa bronze and brass, including a recumbent bull, Nandi, 18th/19th century, 7.5cm long, an elephant, with a pierced back, a tapir on a rectangular base, a giraffe, an antelope fawn, a lion and two frogs, silver coloured metal and soapstone. Lewis (Badges) Ltd Birmingham (still in operation) for the "Producers Distributing Corporation" (P.D.C) who were a short lived Hollywood film distribution company 1925-1927 the dagger in little worn condition but with a few dents and scratches to edges, point and reverse side 5 7/8" (14.9 cm) long
