AN IMPRESSIVE REGENCY WINE COOLER in heavy gauge brass (formally gilded) of kettle drum form, applied with bronze mounts of anthemion form, on tri-bronze feet and complete with lid, minus liner, 20cm high x 13cm diameter. Circa 1815/20. Provenance: Lady Cunard, Sold at Phillips Auctioneers, Blenstock House, London 1984, where bought by current vendor.
A CHINESE SILVER WIRE-INLAID BRONZE INCENSE BURNER, QING DYNASTY The compressed ovoid body with two lug handles and raised on a short flared foot, inlaid with silver wire depicting archaistic taotie designs, cloud scrolls and key fret above a band of stylized dragons, the base with a six character Xuande mark dividing a two character shi sou mark, with a carved hardwood ruyi stand and cover, the cover with a pale celadon jade finial carved as a fish, 19.8cm. A CHINESE BRONZE MODEL OF A BUDDHIST LION DOG AND HER PUPPY, 17TH CENTURY In two parts, the bitch with its front paw resting on a brocade ball with ribbons, the smaller dog with its head turned over its back, both raised on one fitted hardwood reticulated stand carved with lingzhi, 15cm. A KHMER BRONZE-MOUNTED BAYON-STYLE RITUAL CONCH SHELL, LATE 12TH/EARLY 13TH CENTURY The shell mounted as a ritual vessel, a Garuda forming the neck, its open beak the spout, the base with a panel depicting a dancing Hevajra, raised on a three-legged stand, each foot formed as a sinuous naga, 31.7cm overall. A LARGE PAIR OF CHINESE BRONZE VASES, HU, WITH REMOVABLE CROWNS, WARRING STATES PERIOD 475-221 BC Each pear-shaped body raised on a flaring foot, decorated in relief with four concentric relief bands simulating twisted rope, the shoulder with two mythical beast masks, each supporting a loose-ringed handle decorated with incised lines and scrolls, surmounted by a separate crown, with eight ogee-shaped radiating petals decorated with stylized geometric scrolls, the surface with evidence of malachite encrustations, 40cm overall.
